Edited to have simplified chinese (as it is the language of the People's Republic and the documents issued by the Standing Committee) and added Pinyin.

SCNPC didn't replace the JCPC

edit

I think it's more fair to say that the function of the JCPC was replaced by a combination of the Final Court of Appeal and the SCNPC. As far as I know, the SCNPC would only hear "constitutional interpretation" type issues but all other appeal issues of law would be heard by the FCA.

Standing committee chair

edit

The office of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress is already the subject of another article; suggest removing the single sentence on this subject and putting the link to the existing article under "see also." Also suggest removing the "previous members" section, which seems to serve no purpose anymore. Actually, even the list of "leading members" for the 12th NPC is questionable. Just because you are a "vice chair" doesn't mean you actually do anything. Listing political nonentities like Yan Junqi, and omitting people like Li Fei 李飞, who is now chair of the SC's two commissions on Basic Laws of Hong Kong and Macau, and vice secretary of the SC, seems odd. No longer "Minister of Health"

edit

In 2013, 2013 National People's Congress announced a new executive agency named "National Health and Family Planning Commission" created from the former Ministry of Health and National Population and Family Planning Commission. Li Bin is the first commissioners. So there's no longer "Ministry of Health" and Chen Zhu is no longer the Minister of Health. --User:BenjaminPML(Talk) — Preceding undated comment added 01:26, 5 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Chairman and Secretary-General

edit

It's not really made clear the role of the Secretary-General of the Standing Committee. It sounds like a party position, but it also appears to be a state position? I'm not sure I understand, and the position is not explained in any real detail on any page dealing with the National People's Congress. Can someone clarify this? --Criticalthinker (talk) 07:24, 5 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

BTW, not sure who is editing this, but every thing in the history section and more is about the Standing Committees recent relationship with Hong Kong. This information is more relevant and appropriate for Hong Kong-related pages, obviously. This is a page about the composition, function, and powers of the committee, not some kind of months/annual rundown of the happenings of the committees relationship with any one jurisdiction. --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:00, 1 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
