I propose that the article The Stanley Clarke Band (band) be merge into this article. Musicians join many bands in their lifetimes. This is especially true of jazz musicians, who might form a different band for every album. Nothing is gained by having separate articles (usually stubs) for all of these bands, and much is lost.

  • Don't merge: I Propose keeping the page individual but adding "see also" with a link back to Stanley Clarke, Ruslan Sirota and Hiromi.

The Stanley Clarke Band is notable in itself, according to the following WP:BAND criteria:

2. Multiple albums and singles by the band reached top 10 positions on these Billboard charts: Jazz Albums, Contemporary Jazz Albums and Smooth Jazz Songs:

The Stanley Clarke Band Billboard chart history

5. All four albums have been released by recognized labels: Sony Music, Heads Up and Mack Avenue:

The Stanley Clarke Band credits on AllMusic

6. At least three members are notable and have their own Wikipedia pages already: Stanley Clarke, Hiromi and Ruslan Sirota.

8. The band was nominated and won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album in 2011. Each member has its own page on the Grammy website, including a separate page for the band:

The Stanley Clarke Band's Grammy profile Stanley Clarke's Grammy profile Hiromi's Grammy profile Ruslan Sirota's Grammy profile

Another interesting fact is the cover of the band's last album "The Message". AllAboutJazz.com highlights the fact that Stanley Clarke is "standing back on the cover pic, arms crossed, letting the youngsters grab the limelight".

Finally, if the band had a different name, not including "Stanley Clarke", no one would suggest merging them. The band is notable enough by itself.> TanookiKoopa (talk) 06:41, 30 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Rocks, Pebbles and Sand is the 1980 album by jazz bass guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Stanley Clarke. This was the first recording where Stanley featured his tenor bass. 2A02:C7C:DD75:A200:85D5:CD14:6C27:7733 (talk) 23:59, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

piccolo bass

edit

nothing in the article about clarke's use of instruments tuned an octave higher than a regular bass. it's something I'd say he was well-known for, certainly among bassists.
