11 Months

edit

The latest update we have sourced here is for an announcement 11 months ago. Has there been no news in the last year, or is our article incomplete? 100.35.3.107 (talk) 05:01, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Probably no new news really. But BlizzCon is coming up, that's probably when we'll get more info. -- ferret (talk) 11:42, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

i have found a release date

edit

it is from a shop in norway so that makes it the european release date. here is the link: http://gamezone.no/Avdelinger/SPILL/PC-Spill/Strategi/WarCraft-/-StarCraft/Starcraft-2-Legacy-of-the-Void-PC-MAC-Protoss-122346-p000005104784.213.46.153 (talk) 11:14, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for digging that up. I don't think we should use it as authorative though - at this point it's just an item in an online shop that may have an incorrect or professional date on it. It definitely doesn't meet our reliable sources guideline. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 12:39, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Release Date

edit

So what do we know about when it is actually released? Tfan101 (talk) 22:02, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

It should be released some time this winter. 70.15.250.19 (talk) 18:25, 24 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

New units

edit

Should there be any mention of new units? -Xcuref1endx (talk) 23:39, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

This was mentioned in the article for WoL and HotS so I feel one should do it here. Only minor issue it that its not by definition final. But The fact that Terrans receive Cyclone and Liberator, Zerg gets Ravager and Lurker finally comes back and Protoss to receive Adept and Disrupter need to be included sometime soon. It may even be good to mention changes to economy and such. and new features introduced such as automated tournaments, Archon Mode and Allied Commanders (I believe it was called) -Scourge Splitter (talk) 08:37, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Checking back here now. The article still doesn't have anything regarding the new features Archon Mode, Allied Commnaders and Automated Tournaments. I'm going to try and work it in. But if others want to give it a try be my guest since I do have some issues with alotted time. Scourge Splitter (talk) 09:20, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Release date banner

edit

I've deleted the release date notification template we had since Blizzard has now solved that issues decisively by providing the official release date. TomStar81 (Talk) 00:29, 14 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Plot and Gameplay

edit

I feel that some elements described in the 'Gameplay' section should be in the 'Plot' section. -Scourge Splitter (talk) 08:38, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

The gameplay and plot sections are still in a very early form since the game has not yet been released. They will be fleshed out soon. -- ferret (talk) 12:15, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm going to make a suggested post following this with a renewed look on both sections and post it here. Anyone can even feel free to suggest corrections and such.
I made devision for Plot. A separate part for the prologue missions (Oblivion) and for the main campaign when it comes out. It must yet be completed with refernces and such 195.109.63.17 (talk) 15:02, 4 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Finished plot for Oblivion. Can someone please help with the sourcing? 195.109.63.17 (talk) 06:21, 5 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I added a reference I could find about the first part of the plot. However other than youtube video's for the playthrough I can't find much about it. Scourge Splitter (talk) 19:06, 5 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Added notion of the post legacy of the void Nova mini campaign revealed by Blizzard at the BlizzCon event. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 08:14, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I changed the layout of the talk page a bit. I also reverted the edit where AdrianGamer deleted the mentioning @ AdrianGamer, please EXPLAIN what you are doing. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 07:56, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I didn't not realize that there is a discussion here. I apologize. But the part about the Nova mini campaign, as it stands now belongs to the development/release section. I don't see the point having it separated now, given that there is not much information presented. AdrianGamer (talk) 09:08, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
In my view, it should be separarted because the one thing that was confirmed is that it will continue events in Starcraft 2 after the storyline of Legacy. and according to that 'format-of-reasoning' I feel it should be. Especially because it presents the exact knowledge one would need when reading it. It may however benefit from mentioning the targetted release date for the mission pack. I believe the source said it was june 2016 so I'll added that in. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 12:29, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
That's sounds fair, though I really do think that it should have more content before it has its own section. AdrianGamer (talk) 03:12, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I see your point, however the section is also more oriented to "What comes after", and not specifically so much to cater to this specific mission pack. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 07:40, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've been able to dig up some small content about what the DLC (as it appears to be) can be about. its here. "http://www.gamespot.com/articles/starcraft-2-legacy-of-the-void-nova-covert-ops-ann/1100-6432039/" Maybe something to keep a watchfull eye onto. Scourge Splitter (talk) 16:55, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Added: I said just above here that we still need to catch up to the other modes Starcraft II offers beyond classic multiplayer and the campaign. Most noteworthy Archon Mode and Allied Commanders are designed to keep players engaged with Starcraft II now that the saga is 'over'. In the mean time they have already introduced Karax to be the newest addition to the bench of Commanders and more are bound (maybe even announced) to arrive against a fee most likely. I remember is being said somewhere by Blizzard. This section could prove valuable to place this content. Scourge Splitter (talk) 09:20, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Plot and Gameplay style as suggested by "Scourge_Splitter"

edit
--Renewed Sections(to date)--

--Gameplay-- The single-player campaign will feature an evenly amount of missions similar to Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm and will center around the Protoss character Artanis.[1], hierarch of the Khalai Protoss. The campaign in Legacy of the Void will focus on the Protoss and conclude the events of the Starcraft II Trilogy.[2] {cite}. Like the two predeceding games, the briefing room will feature interactive exploration but this time on board a Protoss Arcship known as the Spear Of Adun{cite}. On board of the ship there's locations that can be explored such as the [War Counsil], [Robotics Facility] and more(check names). Missions are accessed through a Protoss version of Hyperions 'Star Map' known as the Celestial Array{cite}. Artanis' goal is to unify the Protoss and stand against Amon, a fallen Xel'Naga who wishes to reshape the universe in his image. Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan will play smaller parts in the story as well. Chris Metzen has likened the story to that of the film 300, with a small force engaging a much more powerful one in a desperate last stand. As was in Wing of Liberty and in Heart of the Swarm, new units are added in multiplayer aswell as some existing units being changed from the previous game. ---Protoss--- The Protoss receive 2 new units. The Adept, which is a ranged infantry unit warped in from either a Gateway or Warp Gate. and the Disrupter, a robotic units which functions fairly similar to the Reaver from Starcraft Brood War.....more to come ---Terran--- The Terrans receive the Cyclone, a factory built units that uses its missile launchers system to lock on targets and can fire while moving. And the Liberator, which is a flying unit that can engage aircrafts with its normal attack and can deploy a powerful cannon to attack ground targets.....more to come ---Zerg--- The Zerg receive the Ravager, which evolves from Roaches and can use a 'Corrosive Bile' special ability that attack a specific location and deals damage to anything it hits, including the destruction of Protoss Force Field cast by Sentries. Also the Lurker makes a return.....more to come

--Plot-- The story is set to take place after the events of Heart of the Swarm{cite}. Artanis, who is the highest ranking leader of the Daelaam Protoss is tasked to unify all the various Protoss tribes including the Dark Templar, the Tal'Darim and the Purifiers{cite}. The player will complete objectives that will have an effect on how the other tribes view the Player[3]. Acting on behalf of one tribe may alienate another, thus excluding them from specific Protoss Technology and parts of the campaign.[4] The ultimate goal of the campaign is to unite the various tribes into a viable, unified force that can ensure the Protoss' survival.[5]

--End--

Gameplay Archive

edit

This was the original gameplay section. It was pretty dated and prety much superseeded by the plot section on the existing page. I do like the like gameplay section written above.

The single-player campaign will contain elements of diplomacy. The player will work with different Protoss tribes who will help them gain allies and advance the plot, but at the same time making them enemies with other tribes.[1] Using units from one side may preclude using units from the other side, and alienating one or another sect may cut the player off from part of the campaign.[2] The ultimate goal of the campaign is to unite the various tribes into a viable, unified force that can ensure the Protoss' survival.[3] As in the previous two games, which focused on Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan respectively, the campaign will have a central character Artanis.[4] The single-player part of the expansion will focus on the Protoss race. The creature Amon will be the primary antagonist of the story. Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan will play smaller parts in the story as well. Chris Metzen has likened the story to that of the film 300, with a small force engaging a much more powerful foe in a desperate last stand. The storyline concludes the StarCraft II trilogy.[5] Oldag07 (talk) 23:27, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I admit, reading through the old section, it feels oddly written. I'm pasting the version written above in to replace. Also on comment, not sure has done the fnal editing on the "Legacy of the Void campaign section", but I revised some minor in-adequaties. Also funny to note for those who've played it: The purifier missions on Planet Endion and the Cybros are really reminiscent of Star Wars' 'Return of the Jedi' and the battle on the forrest moon of Endor. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 06:24, 16 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Cast List

edit

I did read the regulations regarding this. But way I see it. its total bullcrap. I've read the article on Bioshock which is mentioned there as a "Good example" And having read through 2 paragraphs of text to mention a few people who've ultimately worked as voice casters..... and then a short list of the most notable characters is NOT appropriate?? In what world are we living in??? Wikipedia rules start to make less and less sence by the minute. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 12:57, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

You can challenge the WP:VGSCOPE policy in its talk page if you want, but as the guideline still stands right now, it remains inappropriate. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:22, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Copying my reply from Talk:StarCraft_II: Wings of Liberty#Cast_List - BioShock Infinite has prose that is backed by reliable sources covering the cast in detail. This is different than an indiscriminate list of cast with no context or sourcing. -- ferret (talk) 15:24, 18 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have just now placed a notion for change in that ruling. And also, yeah I was a bit furious about it. but I haven't gone around changing it up did I? In came here with my emotional response and put it up for debate/challenge. And maybe I'm being backup up somewhere in the future, maybe not.. I'll see. but I abided by the rules, even though I strongly disagree with them. 195.109.63.17 (talk) 06:45, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
