Notable guests
editIn an edit summary, @Adamstom.97 said that "notable guests" encompasses "actors or characters returning from previous Star Trek media". This is pretty opaque. Why shouldn't the heading encompass guest actors who are themselves notable, or guest actors who play major roles in their episodes? Clint Howard has been on Star Trek before, but he's not particularly well-known and plays a minor role in the episode. If the list is a list of guest actors with past Star Trek connections, then that's what the list header should say. AJD (talk) 17:33, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- This is the criteria that was agreed upon for Discovery and there have been no issues with it for all of those seasons as well as all of the Picard and Lower Decks seasons. The only reason it wasn't done here at first is because the first season of Strange New Worlds does not have enough guest stars total to need filtering down like this, but the second season does now. I think any discussions about changing this criteria is going to open a can of worms for all of these articles, going from objective criteria to subjective arguments over who is inherently notable or has a major enough role in an episode to meet the criteria. I'm not against adjusting the header to be more descriptive but we would still want it to be concise if possible. Another suggestion would be to add a note explaining the criteria, though at that point I would argue that the criteria for the list is much less important to the readers than it is for us. We could also put an FAQ section at each season's talk page to explain the criteria for anyone who cares enough to go to the talk page. - adamstom97 (talk) 20:47, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

- Wow, that is a silly accusation to just make off the bat without even trying to contribute constructively to the conversation first. This criteria has been used across all of the Star Trek season articles for the last five years, I haven't just now decided to go around removing guest stars I don't like if that is what you are insinuating. - adamstom97 (talk) 09:17, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
