This article should be renamed to Star Wars (original film series) to bring it inline with the naming convention pertaining to film series. Let's discuss. - LA @ 10:30, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please state whether or not you support the renaming of this article.

  • Oppose - The naming convention fails to consider that Trilogy is a part of the title that makes this work unique. In all its forms, "original trilogy", The Star Wars Trilogy or the "classic trilogy", trilogy is the operative word, something that "film series" doesn't capture. — WiseKwai 12:28, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am suggesting a merge of this trilogy article with the prequel trilogy article into a new article: Star Wars films (or the like), which would delete the unnecessary cast and location lists from these articles (those belong in the individual film articles) and the long synopses (ditto), and replace it with information about how the films related to each other (in terms of production, scripting, release - the DVD sets, etc). - stuff that is clogging up Star Wars right now which is supposed to be about the entire franchise, not just the films. • agree to merge the original and prequal trilogy pages should be merged, like other movies series like X-Men and stuff. Gman124 (talk) 03:28, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep separate but have convergent information available on the lowest faction. By this, I mean that you would, for example, list the main actors of the series in OT (Hammill, Fisher, Ford, Guiness, JEJ etc) and likewise in the PT (Macgregor, Portman, McDiarmid, Christiansen, SLJ) and also have an overall article (I just created one, but it's very stubby and needs lots of work at Star Wars theatrical films) with goes into the detail of both series, continuities between films, consistencies and inconsistencies. Another feature is that the OT is released as a single DVD boxset and not individually any more, the PT is about to have this same treatment and there's a six film set due to be released sometime in the next 18 months, and if there's an article for each entity (PT, OT, whole story) then having all three articles makes a lot of sense. More "specialist" articles can often be more effective than having massively long ones. --rm 'w avu 12:33, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Definite Merge - We need a lead article for the Star Wars Featured Topic, and this would make a very good one merged together. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 20:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge — The film series warrants its own article, for casual fans as well as for the featured topic. I see no reason to have two separate Start-class articles when they could together be one GA-class article. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 18:35, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep it seperate - The films, all under the Star Wars name, are different and similar. Now, the original trilogy follows a different storyline than the prequel trilogy. The original trilogy is all based on Luke Skywalker, while the prequel trilogy is based upon Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Dark Lord of Wiki (talkcontribs) 14:04, 26 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep it seperate To merge these would be the same thing as merging Dirty Dancing, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, the reality tv show and the 1988 series... they're connected, but separate works.--Glucap 00:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Merge so we can finally get some sanity. There are so many different ways that these films can be broken up it is ridiculous. There are three groups of films that have been broken up and then placed back together, so why not have just one article on all of the films? (I am including the two Ewok films and the Christmas special too.) Just call it Star Wars (film series) and be done with it. (See above rename request.) - LA @ 10:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge Star Wars is like one movie, if you follow it. Like George Lucas said in a interview, he hopes one day people will think that Star Wars is one movie, not 6 separate episodes.—Preceding unsigned comment added by A Raider Like Indiana (talkcontribs) 18:36, April 7, 2008
