Not sure about the "first time in English history" part. What about gavelkind? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.196.8.153 (talk) 23:25, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The word "bequest" in the second sentence("...permitting bequest by will".)should be replaced by 'devise'. 'Bequest' is a testamentary gift of chattels, a 'devise' is a testamentary gift of realty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.212.80.149 (talk) 23:57, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fee simple and Fee tail?

edit

Can someone explain how this relates to the concepts of fee simple and fee tail? Did the law only apply to the former? LastDodo (talk) 11:38, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
