You know the drill by now, I'll be taking a look at this, and any section I mark with a Working tag means I have more comments to make, but feel free to start working on the ones you do see.

Lede
edit- "it is diagonally across from the New York Public Library Main Branch" → "It is diagonally across from the Main Branch of the NYPL"
- Done, but with a different phrasing. Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- "The branch was closed between 2017 and 2020 for renovations and was renamed after the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which provided the funding for the renovation." → "Between 2017 and 2020, the branch was closed for renovations funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and the library was renamed after the foundation."
Description
edit- WL circulating library
- "The building had been designed by T. Joseph Bartley." → "T. Joseph Bartley designed the building."
- If there's a year for that design, it'd be nice to include
- I did rephrase the sentence. I feel like adding the year is redundant, since the article already mentions that the site was acquired in 1914 and the store opened the next year. Like most buildings, the Arnold Constable store was designed between these two dates (i.e. design didn't start before the site was acquired). Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- If there's a year for that design, it'd be nice to include
- "The library is located diagonally across from..."
- Fixed with a different phrasing. Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
Facade
edit- "extending to 39th Street, one block south" → "extending one block south to 39th Street"
- "from an annex" → "from the annex" (you already mentioned the 39th St. annex)
Interior
edit- "Circassian-walnut" → "Circassian walnut" with the WL
- "was used for wholesaling" → "were used for wholesaling"
- WL microfilm
- Switch the order of the sentence beginning "The branch also contained..." so that you go 350,000 volumes → two copies of circulating nonfiction → microfilm and non-circulating books
History
edit- Move the WL from "new branch on 53rd Street" to "Donnell Library" as the former is a bit of an WP:EASTEREGG
Founding
edit- "The same year" → "That same year"
- Done, though I just went with "That year", since it would be redundant to say "That ... year" and "same year". Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- "targeted primarily at" → "targeted primarily towards"
Expansion
edit- "move out of 10 East 40th Street entirely"
- "This renovation was not carried out because of the NYPL's budget cuts following the September 11 attacks." → "This renovation never took place, as the NYPL faced budget cuts in the wake of the September 11 attacks in New York."
- Done, though I clarified the attacks hit Lower Manhattan. Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
21st-century renovation
edit- Heavily criticized by whom?
- "the Central Library Plan was abandoned" → "the plan was abandoned"
- Comma after "until that September"
References
edit- Good
General comments
edit- All images are Creative Commons and are relevant to the article
- As an aesthetic aside, some may benefit from being left-aligned, especially towards the bottom
- No evidence of edit warring or other content disputes in the revision history
- Earwig score sits at 23.1%, the top result is a little sketchy. The NYT one sitting at 21.3% is entirely due to proper nouns and an attributed direct quote.
Hope you're staying safe with all the mid-Atlantic flooding! Putting on hold, but feel free to take your time and to ping me with any questions. — GhostRiver 17:57, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GhostRiver: Thanks for the review, I really appreciate it. I didn't get hit as badly as others in the city, fortunately - I hope you're doing fine as well, since I heard there was also major flooding across the Northeast. I've resolved all of these issues now. Epicgenius (talk) 18:23, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- Epicgenius Looks good now, thanks for doing that so quickly! As for me, my teaching assignment and my grad courses both went virtual. I'm far enough away from the Schuylkill not to be too terribly affected, but if you haven't seen the pictures of the Vine Street
ExpresswayCanal, they're a real doozy. — GhostRiver 19:48, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
