Page move

When and where was the page move discussed? I created this article, and I have never seen the group referred to anywhere as "The Steampacket" except on the album cover shown in the article, which was released in 1992! Unless somebody produces verifiable evidence that this is the name by which they were commonly known, I will move it back stat. Scolaire 11:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Oddly, some recent sources, such as AllMusic, have been referring to the group as "The Steampacket" - this may be partly to do with the 1990 album, and partly to do with Wikipedia changing the title of this article from "Steampacket" to "The Steampacket", but reliable sources on the topic have always, and continue to, refer to the group as "Steampacket": [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], etc. Some sources say "Steam Packet", some say "Steampacket". I seem to recall reading that it was sometimes billed as "The Steampacket Revue", but I'm not getting any results for that on Google now. At any rate, I'm glad the article is back at its proper title. I wasn't up for edit-warring in 2007, and I never got around to it after that. Scolaire (talk) 10:46, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

They were referred to as a revue because they had three singers who would take turns, rather than sing together.

Interesting how, even though this is recent history involving a very high profile person, there are a number of factual errors regarding Steampacket. I often read that Elton John was part of Steampacket. Seems that rumours and errors follow Rod Stewart, and he's not seen it as a priority to correct the mistakes. A different perspective from someone who saw Steampacket several times

I have seen Steampacket described as a group in several articles, but IMO, as someone who saw them quite often (and all the other British blues bands of the time at the same clubs as Steampacket played), they were never a group in the traditional sense. They ARE more accurately described as a 'Revue'--not just because there were three singers, but because of the format of their shows. The Auger band played two or three instrumentals to open, then they backed Stewart, Baldry and Driscoll in turn for short individual sets, the show ending with the three vocalists performing a few numbers together (backed by the Auger band).
