Conflict of interest tag

edit

The reasoning for the conflict of interest tag being placed at the head of the main article can be seen at the thread at the Conflict of Interest noticeboard that started with this post [1]. The relevant points are as follows:

The article text was originally written by user ZrinzoAzzopardi, i.e. same name as the subject of the article.

User Salmal30 made large edits to the article on 5th Aug 2024, and then stated (via an IP address) that the edits had been "confirmed and requested by Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi himself" [2].

The same user had previously uploaded a photo of the subject to Commons, listing it as "own work" c:File:Member of the House of Representatives of Malta.jpg.

The 5th Aug 2024 edits, while ostensibly an update on recent developments, included no mention of significant news coverage of the subject in February and March 2024, and thus those edits do not seem to have been written from a WP:NPOV.

Any conflict of interest users should refer to the relevant policy at WP:COI, formally declare their conflict of interest on their own user page, and request any edits to the article via COI edit requests on this talk page. Axad12 (talk) 08:33, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

ZrinzoAzzopardi has not edited since 2012, when they submitted what was then a draft article through the AfC process. It was then reviewed and published by a third-party editor. Edits by Salmal30 have all been reverted. You identify no current issues with the article content and there is no justification for a {{CoI}} template; per the requirements on that template's dpcuemnttaion page. Okay, noted. Axad12 (talk) 18:22, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Glancing at the article, it still comes across as a promotional piece rather than an encyclopedia article. It's hard to tell when the citations haven't been filled out properly, but it looks like much is WP:UNDUE and WP:PROMO given the sourcing. --Hipal (talk) 19:58, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
30% of the current article text was written by a user with the same name as the subject, so that does not surprise me. Axad12 (talk) 20:02, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
