Just a note--

I added Step pyramid, to the page List of Egypt-related topics, assuming that the page could get the updating for the Egyptian world. It was referenced on more than one page. (I just checked, about 5-10 to 15 Egyptian pages with no one bothering to check that it did not mention Eqypt ! ). Anyway, we now know that has been addressed (look at the History). It is not a "stub" anymore for the Eqyptian pyramids. (Thanx Mr H., Plus I only just learned how to use Alt j, and alt -k) Michael McAnnis,YumaAZMmcannis 05:38, 12 November 2005 (UTC)

Someone may want to correct the end of this article, since it trails off in random characters.

Title

I think the title should be changed to Step Pyramids - because it deals with constructions from various cultures - while the name Step Pyramid is usually taken to be Zoser's in Egypt.Apepch7 (talk) 10:51, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

The lead

It now says " The term refers to pyramids of similar design that emerged separately from one another, as there are no firmly established connections between the different civilizations that built them.". Izzedine cited the explorer Laurence Waddell -- but what scholar today pays any attention to his claim that " the whole of Pharaoh Menes' dynasty is identical with the whole imperial dynasty of Manis-Tusu, the son of Sargon of Mesopotamia, thus fully establishes for the first time a synchronism between Ancient Egyptian and Babylonian History which definitely fixes by the identification of Menes, the founder of the First Dynasty of Egypt with Manis-Tusu, the son of Sargon, the date of Menes at a period no earlier than about 2704 B.C., and the end of his dynasty under King Shudur Kib at about 2522 B.C., as detailed in the chapter on Chronology." - or that Egyptian civilization has an Aryan origin? This is sheer nonsense. Also, archaeologically there is a clear progression in Egypt from the mastaba to the step pyramid to the true pyramid, and if Egypt had been influenced by Sumerian ziggurats you wouldn't see this. Mastabas were tombs, the platforms that preceded the Ziggurats were temple platforms. I don't think the lead should even hint at possible connections, but I'm willing to be shown where I'm wrong. Djoser and Imhotep shuold get some photo recognition here.

Since Djoser's step pyramid is fairly uncontroversially considered the first pyramid of any sort of earth, not to mention one of the first man made stone buildings of any prominence, it stands to reason that a picture should be included. Whether it should be the lead is another matter, but for now it would be proper to at least include it among the photos. 174.62.208.249 (talk) 22:35, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Recent citations need fixing

In particular, it is Miroslav Verner, not Mislov Verner. They should also have been full citations containing at least author, work, publisher and year of publication. User:Thanos5150, as you consider me a dishonest cowardly hack[1] I wouldn't dream of tampering with your edits, but I hope you will fix them. It would be a good idea to make sure that all the references to the same source are amalgamated. You might want to read Help:Referencing for beginners, despite it's title it's still an excellent source for anyone and its videos make life easier. Doug Weller talk 09:53, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
