origin of name
editIt would be a good idea to note that Steuben Glass Works is named after Steuben County, wherein it sits. Assuming that's right, of course. :-) Martin Packer 18:52, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Pronunciation
editWhen did the pronunciation "stoo-BEN" come into use? (The county is "STOO-ben," Baron Steuben was "SHTOY-ben.") Kostaki mou (talk) 00:28, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, my mistake. Apparently, the county is also "stoo-BEN." Kostaki mou (talk) 18:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Page Title & Section Change
editI'd like to ask editors about the location of Steuben Glass (Works) wiki article in the Template:Glass_makers_and_brands: it seems to be misnamed, as Steuben is no longer called "Steuben Glass Works".
However: if the page is to retain that title, should it not be moved to "Historic companies" section of the Template? Or as a current brand, should the title not be changed to "Steuben Glass, LLC" as that is its current brand name?
I see this article has not had a revival of conversation in a couple of years, so I wanted to bring it up. FauxClaud (talk) 21:53, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Needs Significant Work to Complete
editAnd I excited to do it as my first contribution to WikiProject: Glass, but would love if other editors would pitch in as well. WonJillian was here. 15:49, 15 April 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by WonJillian (talk • contribs)
Designers section
editThis section is a list of supposedly "highly respected glass designers " who have worked for Steuben, but most of the entries have no Wikipedia articles to show notability, or references to show their connection to the company. Meters (talk) 21:21, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- And of the nine entries which do have Wikipedia articles, five make no mention of Steuben in their articles (Beth Lipman, Dante Marioni, Massimo Vignelli, Kiki Smith, and James Carpenter (artist)). Meters (talk) 21:30, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
