Tone & Objectivity
editThis article looks somewhat like self-promotion. I suggest a re-write for objectivity. Jaraalbe 19:05, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Jaraalbe... interesting comment. However, it's actually not self-promotion because Steve Baer wasn't involved in writing it. Still, I can see that it might be rewritten to encompass the information while altering the style or tone. Most of the info comes through the Mother Earth News interview and the lengthy introduction the editors provided (interview listed in the references), as well as The Last Whole Earth Catalog, and the book Sunspots. But there are also scattered references to Steve Baer on the Web, plus there is the "Zomes" section in the recent Lloyd Kahn book, Home Work See for instance http://www.zometool.com/about-history.html . - I think the concern is that the tone is a bit more adulatory than many Wikipedians prefer / than most Wikipedia biographies adopt, and specific parts aren't sourced, so it comes across as Wikipedia's editorial judgment is that Steve Baer is one awesome dude (Aside: I personally agree, he is), rather than either (a) the Whole Earth Catalog or some Mother Earth News interviewer thought that, or (b) Steve Baer concretely did X, Y, and Z, and we'll let readers draw their own conclusions. –jacobolus (t) 17:19, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
