Hi, I will be reviewing this against the GA criteria as part of a GAN sweep. I'll leave some comments soon. JAGUAR  14:36, 27 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Checking against the GA criteria

edit
GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, no copyvios, spelling and grammar):   b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
"Gromek was the winning pitcher in game four of the 1948 World Series with the Cleveland Indians" - this is a duplink
"New Cleveland manager Lou Boudreau used Gromek as a relief pitcher in 1942" - this needs un-linking, already been linked
"Gromek started the 1944 season in Cleveland's bullpen" - link bullpen for unfamiliar readers
"Doby had just broken the color barrier in the American League a season earlier" - how did he break the color barrier earlier? Is it documented?
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
    No original research found.
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
    NPOV
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

This article is excellently written and meets the criteria as it is. I can't see any reason to leave it on hold. JAGUAR  18:00, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review! Links are fixed, as for the Doby point, it's documented on his article big time, I didn't go into detail on Gromek's article though so as not to get too tangential, but if you think I should explain it a bit better I can go ahead and do that. Thanks for that! The colour barrier issue should be fine. JAGUAR  18:36, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
