reasons for restoring deleted article

edit

I came across this entry while researching *Lisp, and noticed that the Omohundro entry had been deleted. On reviewing the CFD and an internet search on "Steve Omohundro" I found significant information about the subject that was not brought up in the CFD discussion, namely a long list of publications and a patent[1].

I'm leaving this article tagged as CFD but also editing the article to add the new information. Please discuss either here or on the CFD discussion. --Zippy 23:36, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

After wading through the restored article, I feel I've created an article that is entirely new (it would have been easier to start from scratch rather than restore). So I'm erring on the side of "new article" and removing the CFD tag. I will notify each of the CFD participants so they can re-flag for deletion if they feel the new article deserves it. For reference, the old AFD discussion was here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Omohundro --Zippy 00:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mathematica

edit

I don't have a copy of the book, so I can't provide a cite, but I have heard that Steve Omohundro is credited as one of the creators of Mathematica in the first edition of the Mathematica book. Could someone with access to the first edition verify this? --Zippy 20:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Zippy: Here's a link to a page showing the output from starting up Mathematica 1.1 on AIX, which clearly says that the program was created by Omohundro among others:
