Under heading "Education": "Palermo was widely regarded as one of the best umpires in the game[citation needed]."

Ron Luciano, in his book "The Umpire Strikes Back", praised Palermo repeatedly. Somewhere in that book (ISBN: 9780553230840) there must be a quote or two that would support the above statement.
