OK, first thoughts. The lead is supposed to be a summary of the article, as such it shouldn't normally have references, since either they are repeats of what is in the text or they are supporting material that occurs only in the lead, which therefore isn't just a summary. The second doesn't say that, and isn't a good enough source even if it did, given that it's largely quoting his team-mates. The first does say that, and the BBC is a good RS source, but it's ones person's opinion, not a fact. If you have to say it, put "He has been described as.... It's not appropriate to reference his book to a commercial sales site. Put the book details in a Bibliography or Publications section without a link, you don't then need an in text reference.
