Endorsements

edit

I have removed the following paragraph from the article:

In early 2007, Rudy endorsed former Congresswoman Anne Northup for Governor against Billy Harper and incumbent Governor Ernie Fletcher in the Republican primaries. Fletcher proved victorious in the primary with the Northup ticket only garnering 13 votes in Ballard County. Rudy endorsed Governor Fletcher in the general election, and Fletcher was decisively beaten by Steve Beshear.

Why are Rudy's endorsements of Anne Northup and Ernie Fletcher noteworthy? Did they have any significant impact on the campaign? If so, they can be added back to the article, but they need some context. Otherwise, it appears as though the article somehow tries to make a connection between Rudy's endorsements and the failure of those candidates to be elected. I don't think that's going to be a supportable claim. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 22:26, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rudy's was the first State Representative, other than Jeff Hoover, who was Northup's running mate, to endorse Northup. It is also a surprising endorsement, being as he chose not to endorse Billy Harper, who had been a major contributor to his past campaigns, or Fletcher and his running mate fellow Purchase resident Robbie Rudolph, who I also believe was a past contributor. OK, if this content is re-added, it should be framed in that context and cited with reliable sources. Acdixon (talk contribs count) 01:23, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vehicle Accident

edit

I edited this section because it included information that was not in any "report" even though it claimed to be. In fact, the reference it cites indicate that the Sheriff indicated that the woman pulled out in front of Rudy and nothing has been reported regarding anything about a toxicology test or potential felony charges against Rudy. If one is going to cite a "report" as saying something, that person needs to cite where that report came from and not fabricate information to try to generate negativity toward him.

Professional Career

edit

I have removed the paragraph about Rudy's supposed "romantic relationship" that began with a student while she was in school. This claim is unfounded and cannot be proven to be accurate except through hear-say.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Overjoyed824 (talkcontribs)

It's been added back again. It shouldn't be here unless proper sources can be found. Some problems with the sources: the letter doesn't mention a name and only states that he acknowledged receipt of it, not that he agreed with it; one source is a dead link, another appears to have been replaced by different content and is possibly self-published on a free web space provider, and others are primary; the one acceptable source doesn't mention any controversy; the undue weight given to things not relevant to the subject's notability. The rest of the article needs more references, but is relevant to the subject's notability so I'll look for sources before removing it. snigbrook (talk) 22:55, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
