Retinopathy of prematurity

edit

The issue at hand is not the retinal detachment, it is typically scarring and oxidative damage caused by the excess generation of free oxygen radicals. Yes, retina detachment can occur but it is a possible outcome, not the primary one. The text should simply say- he was blind due to ROP. The added detail of "retinal detachment" adds unnecessary confusion. If necessary it could say, because of excess oxygen provided at birth, but the retinal detachment is unnecessary and potentially misleading.

Little Stevie Wonder

edit

One sentence say "Berry Gordy was responsible for creating the stage name of "Little Stevie Wonder"". Another says "Before signing, producer Clarence Paul gave him the name Little Stevie Wonder." Can both of these be true?? 2600:1700:5A01:DC00:2572:79C7:1D4D:EC97 (talk) 01:40, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Well spotted. The source for Gordy is CNN "Fast Facts" which says:
"Wonder is one of six children. His siblings use the last name Hardaway. According to his mother's authorized biography, Wonder's surname was legally changed to Morris, "an old family name," when he signed with Motown, and Berry Gordy gave him the stage name Wonder."
The sources for Paul are The Independent which says:
"Stevie's surname proved a problem until Clarence Paul, a songwriter, suggested "Wonder", reasoning that, "We can't keep introducing him as 'The Eighth Wonder of the World.'""
and Rolling Stone which says:
"The name was not a misnomer: "Little" Stevie Wonder was signed to Motown subset Tamla Records at the age of 11. Born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, he earned his formative stage name from producer Clarence Paul, who remarked, "We can't keep calling him the eighth wonder of the world!""
So it looks like Paul came up with "Wonder" and Gordy came up with "Little"? That's assuming those sources are accurate, of course. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:33, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
