Source and PR watch
editThe continued promotion of promotion, especially by COI editors, goes against the stated intention of the WP:Five pillars to build an encyclopedia, not a catalog of PR, and should be acknowledged as a direct threat to the encyclopedia's credibility.
All sources which quote or closely paraphrase each other or company press releases, are press releases and should be considered WP:PRIMARY sources, and therefore not independent reliable sources supporting WP:N notability. The sources presented above are, by inspection, not usable to support WP:N notability. I have nothing against the company, only against fabricated "journalism", and anecdotal, non-substantive coverage, when used to support WP:N notability. And I'm an inclusionist.

Cosmopolitan. Hearst Magazines. 2011. HighBeam Research. 23 May. 2012 highbeam.com>. (subscription required) - includes no commentary about the "school", just an anonymous, unverifiable anecdote about someone who allegedly went to Stiletto. Includes a statement by a professional, but not about Stiletto. It is, at best, a trivial mention, and cannot be used to establish WP:N notability.
- [2] Harrow, Susan (July 28, 2010). "Stiletto Spy School for Women". The Huffington Post. Retrieved May 23, 2012. is a blog entry written by a PR agent. PR = Primary, and cannot be used to support WP:N Notability.
- [3] "stiletto-spy-school-the-bootcamp-for-bond-girls". Diva Maverick Mavens. is just an interview of the founder. WP:PRIMARY. Cannot be used to support WP:N notability.
- [4] "espionnes-talons-aiguilles". Le Figaro - Madame Figaro. - This (engl. tr.) was partially plagiarized from the NY Daily News (compare!), and is therefore not a good source for any purpose.
- [5] "TITLE NEEDED". City Scoops. is not a source, it is a domain for sale. The archive of the article is yet another anecdotal, uncritical, yay article. Supports existence, but again, not importance, or credibility of the claims the school makes. The author, like every other article, is not any sort of expert on anything about the "school", and consults none. Cannot be used to support WP:N notability.
- [6] "stiletto-spy-school". XO Jane. is an anonymous blog entry. Not a WP:RS. Cannot be used to support WP:N notability.
- [7] "my-day-at-stiletto-spy-school". The Frisky. is another comped (PR), nearly identical, all-positive, no-research puff piece. Establishes only existence, but not importance, or even the veracity of the claims made by the school and instructors. Cannot be used to support WP:N notability.
- [8] "the-names-benz-sally-benz". Feministe. - non-notable blog entry - didn't even attend the class, just stamped approval! Cannot be used to support WP:N notability.
None of these sources support notability, due to the shallowness and similarity of their coverage, lack of authorship by knowledgeable professionals, and lack of consultation of knowledgeable professionals. In fact, these sources only cover the New York location. These are not all-at-once substantive, reliable, independent, sources supporting existence, importance, and veracity of claims made, by this two-location (not national), purely local, business. --Lexein (talk) 22:49, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
