See "USS Tulip" ship sinking may be applicable to Stinking Point history
editShip Exploded and sank 11 November 1864 east of Ragged point VA. 47 of 57 man crew were killed instantly. It is possible, althoug I cannot confirm, that Stinking Point VA was named as a result of the boides that washed up on Virginia shores as a result of this tragedy.
