Time-line and Tatchell-centricism
editThis article's time-line seems confused and Tatchell-centric, lacking full coverage of the organizations involved and their formation of the campaign and involvement in its actions. Hyacinth (talk) 19:05, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- Tatchell, I believe, was the main engineer and pretty much the spokesperson for the campaign, at least for the first several years. This may have changed but can be sorted out as the article expands. It may help to add a significant events timeline as I recall that the campaign moved forward with high-profile deaths in Jamaica. Stop Murder Music → Murder Music — moving back to Murder music as that's the genre of music while "Stop Murder Music" is one aspect of the music's history. — Banjeboi 23:51, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
- Support as nominator, Stop Murder Music is the current name of the campaign to combat this music genre. If it makes sense to have two articles, one for Murder music and a second for the campaign then that could also be a solution. Banjeboi 23:54, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. This article is currently about the campaign. You could create an article about the music where there is currently a redirect: murder music. Hyacinth (talk) 23:59, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Any additional comments:
The current article does not describe murder music as a genre. Hyacinth (talk) 23:56, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Comment
editThe music has been described as Stop Murder Music and reading here I have to wonder at the good faith of that. Lets not see a repeat. Thanks, SqueakBox talk contribs 15:14, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Reggae Compassionate Act
editWe need to establish a connection between Reggae Compassionate Act and Stop Murder Music. Thanks, SqueakBox talk contribs 16:50, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Go ahead, since you removed the connection rather than revising it. Hyacinth (talk) 04:13, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- "In exchange for an end to the Stop Murder Music campaign against their music, a group of big name singers signed the Reggae Compassionate Act" - "Reggae Stars Sign On To Cut Out Homophobic Lyrics"
- "the Reggae Compassionate Act, an agreement put together by Stop Murder Music activists and music promoters." - "Reggae Stars Renounce Homophobia, Condemn Anti-gay Violence"
- The above quotes may be useful. Hyacinth (talk) 04:17, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
