Fair use rationale for Image:Stranger in a Strange Land.jpg

edit

Image:Stranger in a Strange Land.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Franklin expedition

edit

Could the song be about the lost Franklin Expediton? The similarities in themes are impressive to me, and that story isfairly well known in england. Of course, i realise i may just be shoehorning thmy interpretation of the song to fit my expectations. --unsigned by 70.83.185.246 at 16:24, 22 February 2009

Reference Issues

I do not believe that the "Sputnikmusic" ref is of any validity and is of obvious dubious quality.
I do believe that "The Man With No Name" ref is a valid ref as it's so clearly similar for any one who has seen all tree movies from Sergio Leone's trilogy. It is more obviously from "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" which is the more famous film.
I also think that Deckard from Blade Runner is half the "character" ref that is being depicted here as their is also a very strong ref to Deckard's trench coat.

Personally I don't give a damn, I'd just like to warn you that those wo care about enforcing the rules will some day challenge all that picture interpretation stuff:

  • Wikipedia policy does not regard wikipedia articles as a valid source for information. See WP:CIRCULAR.
  • When talking about an artists image, your own personal interpretation is not a valid source for an encyclopedic article. See WP:NOR.
