COI acknowledgment
editI want to be upfront that I do work for a strapping company, so if any of my edits are questionable please revert them, however I don't plan on POV pushing or advertising anything here. I'll see what I can contribute here in the near future. Wizard191 (talk) 00:30, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Citations
editI have removed company web pages. Sources should be published material such as books, tech journals, trade journals, etc. Please review Reliable Sources and Spam WK pages. Pkgx (talk) 22:05, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not completely sure I buy that the links I provided are not RS. Signode is a reputable strapping company. I've linked other commercial websites legitimately, such as McMaster-Carr (here) and nyrstar (here). Journals and books on the topic are on short supply, so there are not many published sources available. Wizard191 (talk) 22:20, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- It is not a question of being a reputable company. The problem is with linking to a web site that a company offers to sell their products.
- Certainly there have been semi-technical articles in trade journals (not sales pieces) that could be referenced. What about published presentations to trade associations and conferences? I do not think a source requires referee status but it should be published with a date and an author. Pkgx (talk) 18:32, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not all references need authors or publication dates. Lots of sources are just websites with neither. While I agree that publications are better, WP:RS does not state that an author or date are required. Wizard191 (talk) 21:47, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Image
editThe image of a table top strapping machine raises questions. It is great to have pictures of machinery: they add to the article. This one, however, seems to be very commercial with too much advertising. Does someone have another image we can use here? Rlsheehan (talk) 21:29, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- I can take pictures of some of the ones we have at work, without the advertising (most of our equipment doesn't even have our name on it). Note that there is a large variety of types and they most definitely don't all look like the one pictured. Wizard191 (talk) 22:40, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- I am looking forward to your pictures. Rlsheehan (talk) 15:42, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
