Introduction to new sub-article
edit- I'd like to give credit to wikisources from which I have gotten some of the content, although most of it has been reduced and radically altered:
- Like any new article for a very notable topic, this one is neither perfect nor finished, so feel free to add more strategies found in RS and otherwise improve the article. It's a bit larger than a typical stub article, and it can grow much larger.
- There is no reason why other top players cannot be added to the current list of five. Remember to add their strategies to the list of strategies. If they use any that aren't already listed, then create a new strategy.
- It would be nice if we could add images for each contestant, but only Jennings and Holzhauer have images at Commons, so I thought it best to treat this as an "all or none" situation. Others may feel differently.
- Here are some good sources that can still be used:

Strategies of top champions section
editIf the article is kept, I think this section should be tightened. Remove excessive bio content (just have one sentence introducing the player), and remove superfluous subheadings. For example:
Brad Rutter (first episode October 30, 2000) is the record holder for lifetime winnings.[1] Rutter first picks clues from the center of the board because that "is where the daily doubles are". He will often push the buzzer before he knows if he can answer correctly, trusting that he probably can.[2]
Keep the focus on their strategies, as that is the point of the section and the article as a whole. Schazjmd (talk) 15:22, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Schazjmd, I totally agree. Most of it was copied from the leads of the respective articles. A few changes were made with the intention of aiming toward your suggested goal. I was unsure what others would think was appropriate, so hadn't seen it as a pressing priority. Feel free to work on that, and other improvements you can think of. I may do some too, but we have guests, so my available time is limited right now. X-mas tree, baking, cookies, etc. -- Valjean (talk) 23:29, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'll go ahead and condense them, since you're okay with it, Valjean. Have fun with your festivities! Schazjmd (talk) 00:52, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oh duh, never mind...you've done it yourself. Looks good! Schazjmd (talk) 00:53, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I just got some free time while my daughter and her boyfriend, a professional chef, are performing some magic in the kitchen. Boy does it smell good here! The ginger snaps are cooling. They are one of my favorites. -- Valjean (talk) 01:08, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- Smelling someone else's baking sounds great to me right now – I spent the afternoon struggling with the cookie press. Except for toffee, it's the most aggravating part of Christmas baking for me. Schazjmd (talk) 01:19, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Title
editI originally had thought of giving this article a different title, but as I worked on it I created several alternatives. My wife read the article and thought this was the best one, and as she is very wise, I followed her advice. If anyone sees a need to move it to a better title, that can be discussed. -- Valjean (talk) 23:54, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- User:Clarityfiend has suggested a different title, but I'll let them suggest it here. -- Valjean (talk) 06:02, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- User:Clarityfiend, are you still interested in pursuing this idea? -- Valjean (talk) 18:06, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes. The first section is not restricted to champions, and the first sentence doesn't even mention them. The title should be either:
- Strategies and skills of Jeopardy! contestants, or
- Jeopardy! strategies and skills Clarityfiend (talk) 22:23, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yes. The first section is not restricted to champions, and the first sentence doesn't even mention them. The title should be either:
Placement of answering with "What's"
editI'm a bit uncomfortable with the current placement of the content "Matt Amodio prefaced all responses with "What's"..." Is there a more logical spot? -- Valjean (talk) 18:05, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
