Rename?

edit

According to the Official Website, Stratos4 is the proper name they use (see the text 'Stratos4 shop' on the website).

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. I am judging from google that "stratos 4" is more common in English than stratos4 and it is Wikipedia policy to use common names. Absent any other apparent interest in this move discussion, I am choosing to keep it as is. Dragons flight 07:17, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

No. You don't go with what's most common. You take commonly referred titles and redirect that to what's proper. Remember that this anime is originally Japanese. It's not made by native speakers of English. They will take liberties with an English title that a native speaker would not take. This is sometimes corrected by the American licensee. That's when you can use the "proper" English title for your article entry. Unlike the article about food or linguistics, things like show titles and country names have proper names than you don't deviate from in formal usage. Consider common usage as non-canon. For example, even if 90% of "fans" call Star Trek "Trek," that show's title properly remains Star Trek, and its article title should reflect that.

I think the page should be changed to Stratos4. I did use Google to help me with the creation of the article and I found that it was commonly spelled Stratos 4 in English. Although I've seen the anime before I created the article, I went with the safer bet of the English version. Note: I see that ADV films releases the anime under Stratos 4, I think that someone who knows more about the anime and it's development should be heard.Rudykog 08:28, 13 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I don't think there's any need to put up with Engrish. "Stratos 4" with a space between "Stratos" and "4" looks more natural in English to me. Remember that in traditional Japanese writing, there is no use for space between words, so "スラトス4" looks natural in that language. That doesn't need to be carried over into English, and ADV apparently agrees.
I agree pretty much, it's just that Stratos4 the original title from the creators, in English. In the end though, I feel that either point is moot as Stratos4 redirects to Stratos 4 and therefore it really doesn't matter. I'm just trying to be technical about it. :P - Rudykog 10:15, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I went and made this a section so it could be edited without editing the entire page (e.g. to archive it) and so it wouldn't screw up the page layout -- specifically appearing before the TOC. As a reminder, please sign your comments with ~~~~. Argel1200 (talk) 21:05, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You are proposing a rename. What this actually is is called a 'move and redirect', which doesn't seem too troublesome, just so long as people looking for 'stratos 4' find 'stratos4' right? Tyciol (talk) 21:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cameo?

edit

Is it just me, or did anybody notice there is a cameo of Meia Gisborn and Dita Liebely from Vandread in 'Code:108 Go Gate'? I could not reconfirm this, so anyone who could will be very appreciated.

Yes, there were 2 students cosplaying as them, IIRC. I'll try to get a screencap of those two and post it in the gallery. By the way, it is mentioned elsewhere (can't remember where though) that there were cameos in that episode. --Henrickson 08:23, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think you mean the triva on AnimeNewsNetwork.com. The Characters are in the very begining of the episode, when people are building everything.--Alex 'Phoenix' Wing 25/08/06

Sac-1B

edit

Is it just me, or does the X-38 look almost identical to the SAC-1B? Did the producers use it as an example, like the other jets? -Unsigned

Private jet

edit

Does anyone know exactly what make and model is the private jet used by the airbase's crew to ferry from Shimoji Island to Okinawa and other parts of Japan? I identified it as a Raytheon Hawker 800 because it's the aircraft which ressembles the most to it. I'm starting to think it's one of the Dassault Falcon jets (but don't know which model exactly). Any help would be appreciated. --Henrickson 23:03, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of Stratos 4 Characters

edit

The link to the main page of Stratos 4 characters goes nowhere, and after checking it's deletion log it seems it was never there to begin with. Does anyone know where it actually is? Or if it even exists? Offkorn 13:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've been procrastinating to create that article, sorry. I'll try to put it up as soon as possible this week! --Henrickson 01:30, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The result was merge because there is no dissenter for a week. -- Mujaki 11:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I propose merging the artcle Ayamo Nakamura into this article because the former article is very short (WP:MM) and that song is minor she is not major character. (WP:FICT).--Mujaki 03:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)--Mujaki 16:37, 12 July 2007 (UTC)--Mujaki 11:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, She certainly is a major character, but that doesn't have anything to do with this. I agree with Squilibob, just redirect the page.Kazu-kun 03:41, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought Ayano Nakamura is minor in general. But she is major in Stratos 4 and "she is not major character" is wrong in WP:FICT.--Mujaki 11:42, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A mergeTo with redirect seems the best choice, though many anime characters still have their own articles, so I'm not sure how weight is determined for this. Tyciol (talk) 21:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Year

edit

I found a date in episode 6 of Stratos 4 Advance, at the 1:38 min. In the lower right it's written; Observation Date and just below 0012/08/08/4879. Do somebody know what they could mean? Freedom Fighter 1988 01:58, 21 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Forget about it I found something else. In episode 11 of the first serie at the 12:12 min, when Shizuha enter her ID card given to her by the 'strange conspiration guys'. It's written false data on her but even if that the case they can't modify the curent year so it is configured so. It was written 07/23/1997 and 27 yrs old. 1997+27=2024. We have the year now. Inspiration for Stratos 0/4

edit

I removed the B-58 Hustler reference, is there any source on this? Stratos 4 doesn't look like a B-58 at all, it actually looks more like the XF-108 or the XB-70. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildstar2501 (talkcontribs) 23:21, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

In my humble opinion, it's a well done merge of the general proportions (size, relative dimensions of wings and body, the way they are connected together) of the B-58 Hustler and it's ventral container for the payload, the very front of the cockpit of the poor XB-70 Valkyrie and the engine bays of the B-1 Lancer (in this case, with one engines each instead of two, anyway much shorter than the one of the XB-70, and with a rather caracteristic profile). It retains much of the elegance of the Hustler, anyway, as it doesn't seem cumbersome as the Valkyrie nor excessively elongated as the Lancer. As such, it's an original design from the series - and so, the page should simply say "it is vaguely inspired to three famous, supersonic american bombers: B-58, XB-70 and B-1". Logbooks

edit

Does anyone have any idea how informations about the Stratos 4 and Stratos 4 Advance respective logbook episodes could be incorporated into this article? I only found out about this from Eclipse. Tyciol (talk) 21:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
