The section "A definition for stressor is" should probably be moved to the medical article on stress. It has nothing to do with the aforementioned definition.sdf

I have come across the term "Stressor" used in Forensic Psychology to define an event which triggers a patient's disorder. Such as some event in a serial killer's life which sends him or her on a killing spree. Unfortunately, I don't have any sources for this information other than the TV show Criminal Minds--which I am likely to believe, but it doesn't sound like a believable source on, say, a paper. Merger

A merger would be a good idea however judging by the differences two different articles would be needed as well.

Well, I do not know anything about stress in Chemistry (and Stressor is completely unsourced!), but this article is clearly about the biological concept. Hence no merger.Biophys (talk) 16:26, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Toxicological

One aspect of biological stress not being considered is toxicological. Different manifestations of toxicity are probably what drive acute communicative disease as opposed to the germ theory idea of infectious disease agents. Stress through toxicity can be communicative and contagious.

Unable to cope?

The article reads: "Stressors occur when an individual is unable to cope with the demands of their environment." The "unable" part does not make sense to me. Stress can come much before the person is completely unable to deal with a situation. As the intro states, stress comes from encountering a "demanding, challenging, and/or threatening" environment, regardless of whether the individual is able or unable to effectively cope with it. Please consider changing to: "Stressors occur when an individual experiences difficulty coping with the demands of their environment." --1000Faces (talk) 03:40, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
