Why include a software development method under the telecommunications project ?

Third paragraph, what's an 'IS'?

"SSADM is a waterfall method by which an IS design can be arrived at ..."

An IS is an Information System...

I just expanded this acronym for non-experts and linked to Wikipedia article. 80.195.186.192 15:21, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Constantine and DFDs

edit

It surprised me to see Larry Constantine listed as "inventor" of dataflow diagrams. Is there any documentation for this claim? DFDs have been around for a long time. —rodii 15:42, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you want to go really far back, we used flow diagrams involving decks of cards back in 1959 (when I got into the business), and probably several years earlier, but we didn't have the acronym DFD then... Jpaulm 20:08, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why all the black in the Introduction?

edit

Why all the black type in the Introduction? I confess I find it hard to read. Jpaulm 23:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Rename?

edit

Shouldn't this be Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology? That is what is was called when I studied it, never method. Greenwood (talk) 01:36, 11 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was originally released as Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology, and is how I always think of it, although current references to it on the OGC websites that refer to it have dropped he 'ology'. Greyskinnedboy  Talk  05:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

When I taught and consulted in SSADM in the early 90s it was always method, not methodology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C0:1200:B001:6C1B:3359:FCD0:69F (talk) 17:52, 23 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rollback of 15-February 2011.

edit

I could see no reason for the removal of the section on the history of SSADM so I reverted it. If you feel that the section is not relevant to the artle, please seek consensus. I for one believe that the history has a place in the article. Martinvl (talk) 11:51, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The first paragraph has been copied word for word from the SSADM website, has this been cleared with them?

Another in 4.4, which leads me to believe that part or all of the Stages section may have been copied from an educational specification.

I'm afraid the page referred to at "Introduction to Methodologies and SSADM" https://at-web1.comp.glam.ac.uk/pages/staff/tdhutchings/chapter4.html has gone away (404). I haven't removed the reference, just in case someone knows where the replacement can be found. OldBoar (talk) 13:21, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
