Bingham's maximums
editI've twice updated the biography to reflect the fact that Bingham has made three maximums, and twice it's been reverted. The first was explained as Bingham having not made the third at the time of his failed 147 attempt at the World Championship, but the problem with that is that he hadn't made his SECOND maximum at this time either. So that reasoning isn't valid - updating it to third is consistent and in fact necessary, otherwise it's better to completely remove that line and just start that segment with the fact that he missed the pink. The second revert wasn't even justified, so I have no idea what the reasoning behind it was and can only assume it was because I'm not using an account so therefore must be considered automatically wrong, regardless of the evidence and common sense to support my point. Either that, or BlueFire10 was just making the same mistake as Spc 21. Either way, it's getting really irritating to see a blatant error left on the page for reasons that are either flawed or simply not explained to begin with. Please, don't do this again.2.31.10.231 (talk) 23:06, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Prose, POV, and coverage
editBingham won the 1996 World Amateur Championship but enjoyed little sustained success in the early part of his professional career.
- Out of interest, when did he start his amateur career?- Amateur just means not professional. So, he started when he first picked up a queue as a kid. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
The oldest first-time world champion in snooker history, he joined Ken Doherty as the only players to have won world titles at both amateur and professional levels.
- I would rephrase the second part of the sentence, particularly "as the only players". E.g. "he became only the second player, after Ken Doherty, to have won..."- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
He has scored eight career maximum breaks behind only Ronnie O'Sullivan (15), John Higgins (12), and Stephen Hendry (11).
- What is he "behind only" in? I know he has more career maximum breaks than all except these three players, but the grammar is a bit strange.- Reworded Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
In 1996, Bingham won both the English Amateur and the World Amateur Championships
- This was his first year playing?- He played amateur stuff, but we rarely comment on this unless it's notable. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Bingham lost in the first round in four of the eight events in the 2008–09 season.
- Four of the eight events of the season?- I think the grammar is already right. The events don't neccesarily make up the season (at least not in its entirety). Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Lee Vilenski Yeah, I was just asking because you use "in" several times in a row. – Epicgenius (talk) 23:21, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I think the grammar is already right. The events don't neccesarily make up the season (at least not in its entirety). Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
and secure
- I would remove "him" since it's clear what the subject is.hima place in the 2012 Masters- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
and led Stephen Maguire 7–5 but eventually lost 8–9
- Losing to Maguire or someone else?- Losing to Maguire. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
to end it ranked world number six
- I suggest something like "ending it with a world number six ranking", because "end" can be mistaken for a noun.- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
David Morris 6–1, O'Sullivan 6–4
- Should this be "and O'Sullivan"?- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Bingham progressed
- I'd remove this too.throughto- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
He exited the Masters in the first round
- I'd replace "He" with "Bingham" to vary the sentence structure a bit.- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
rules on betting on matches
- "rules concerning betting"?- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- "Despite being Masters champion" - Not really a concern, just interesting how this turned out.
accusing him of possible gamesmanship
- Accusing Selby?- Yeah, added his name.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
O'Sullivan (15), Higgins and Hendry (both 11)
- This doesn't quite match with the lead, where it's mentioned Higgins has 12.- Oh, yeah, he made one quite recently. Added Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:17, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Personal life - not important but is nothing known about his childhood?
- There's probably some family stuff out there. I can probably take a look around after the GAN is finished. I doubt it's super important. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:19, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
born in January 2017,
- Since you used a semicolon after "2011", you should use it here too.- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:19, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
References
edit- I spot checked some refs. They seem to support the claims, so these are all good.
- Number 10 is a dead link. If it's permanent I would remove it, but if not it should be archived.
- Removed Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:22, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Number 11 ("BBC SPORT - WORLD CHAMPS 2002 - Doherty edges through") should be in title case, not all-caps
- Done Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:22, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Number 114 (to bgsnooker.com) seems to have "bgsnooker.com" as a publisher rather than in the website parameter.

General comments
edit@Lee Vilenski: Great work. I'm going to put this on hold but the issues are all fairly minor. Epicgenius (talk) 23:06, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi epicgenius - I have replied and fixed all of the above. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 23:22, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
No reference for the statement that Stuart supports West Ham. I can't find anywhere he has stated this.
Maximum breaks
editThe lede says he has made 9 career 147s, the Legacy section says he has made 8. Which is correct? IrishStephen (talk) 00:54, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
