Split from 'Toyota 86' article

edit

User:Pmsyyz has suggested that the Subaru BRZ be split away from the Toyota 86. Thoughts?  Stepho  talk  03:50, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose: It seems that the Toyota/Scion/Subaru versions will all be built at a Fuji factory, using the same body and major mechanicals. The differences seem to be around variants of the engine, variations in suspension, trim and the badge. These are the type of differences between grades of a single car (ie between a GT and a GT-R). The existing Toyota 86 article and its references already say that the development, the concept cars and the basis of the final cars were done as a co-operative effort between Toyota and Subaru.  Stepho  talk  06:05, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

After a week we have 100% oppose and no comment from Pmsyyz. So I will change this article back to a redirect to Toyota 86.  Stepho  talk  00:01, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

They should be separate articles due to the differences between them. The Subaru BRZ is like the Mercury Mountaineer is to the Ford Explorer. See early version of that article. I suppose it will be split out into a separate article after a few years of info has made the Toyota 86 very long. I just wanted to get it started to encourage contributions from enthusiasts as there does not appear to be a section for the production version of the Subaru in the Toyota 86 article. --Pmsyyz (talk) 05:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

No problem. I follow mostly Toyota stuff but I certainly would like to see editors adding more to the BRZ section of Toyota 86. If the BRZ unique material gets big enough then we can always reconsider a split in the future. Cheers.  Stepho  talk  05:57, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to expand the Subaru section. If it gets big enough with unique information then we can always reconsider the split later.  Stepho  talk  00:44, 4 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.29.31.69 (talk) Reply
