For the life of me I cannot figure out where this suburgatory suburban area is located. The accents/dialects appear to be varied. I have lived in suburban areas in various places in Northern California and the Fresno area, as well as, just outside of Columbia, SC and I have never heard people talk like that. Is this supposed to be reminicent of Southern California???Mylittlezach (talk) 03:47, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The title card seemed to show that they moved to a New York City suburb, but I could be wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.193.127.57 (talk) 04:04, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, it shouldn't be too hard to locate for someone who knows the area, that is if the map is real, but then again it doesn't mean that's where the series is set. UndDerMarlena (talk) 15:17, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
The intro in episode 15 of the 1st season points right here: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=40.932612,-73.74671 --79.214.253.68 (talk) 17:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
The first episode of season 1 shows a map going from New York to someplace outside of NY. I've located the exact house it points to and it actually exists; none of the maps are made up or anything! https://maps.google.com/?ll=40.93542,-73.751336&spn=0.001607,0.002411&t=k&z=19 It seems to be 69 Carleon Avenue in Larchmont. There's a road called Chatsworth Ave just nearby! If you look at the house in Google Streetview it won't look similar to the one in the series, though. 84.75.9.162 (talk) 12:57, 15 December 2013 (UTC) (lKj)Reply

Titular pun

edit

The titular pun was "developed"? Really? Were there meetings, proposals, counterproposals, etc.? I've changed it to "thought up by"... Spanghew2fs (talk) 03:21, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Question about a character

edit

I was surprised to see Dalia listed as a lesbian on List of LGBT characters in television and radio. I don't recall this fact ever coming up on the show. If it has, could it be written into her character description here or changed on the LGBT list? I don't care whether she is or not, it's just that the character makes a big deal about boys she has a crush on so it doesn't seem to fit what we've seen over the past two seasons. 69.125.134.86 (talk) 17:16, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Season 2 Episode 19, Decemberfold, it turns out that Jenna Werner (Noah's college-aged daughter) and Dalia were seeing each other for some time. She says "it was more of a hate hookup" and that they saw each other a few more times before Jenna broke things off. Jenna on Dalia: "She's been a total headcase ever since, sending me pictures of her weird little boyfriend." 84.75.9.162 (talk) 21:01, 30 December 2013 (UTC) (lKj)Reply

Suspicious Parallels

edit

Tessa Altman might, to some extent, be based on Daria Morgendorffer. From the physical appearance, as an auburn-haired teenage girl who, being opposed to fashion dictate, wears a baggy army jacket, a knee-long skirt and heavy boots instead (Daria's main outfit, Tessa's in S01E01), on to the dry witted and somewhat sarcastic opposition towards her surroundings, her mostly unwavering attitude and a high level of self-awareness. Among many more similarities, both series make heavy use of the constant clashing of the main protagonists views on life and social codes with the views of the society she is, rather unwillingly, confronted with. --2003:CA:3F35:AC45:396B:C32F:1702:6405 (talk) 20:51, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

international broadcasts

edit

the show was also broadcasted in Croatia by NovaTV (novatv.dnevnik.hr) which I can confirm because I watched it. It was also announced by HBO Adria (HBO.hr) but I can't confirm if they actually broadcasted it. It's hard to find online information on both broadcasts so I guess the only way to confirm it officially is by contacting the media directly. If somebody wants to do it, they can contact NovaTV at novatvATnovatv.hr. Im unable to find HBO's business email. 31.217.2.115 (talk) 09:38, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
