Confusion!

edit

The opening line of this entry is (with a complimentary note on the other entry):

Not to be confused with South Sudanese Australians.

Yet that appears to be EXACTLY what did happen. The two entries have nearly identical opening paragraphs, with the exact same population figure (19,049 [South] Sudanese-born), and in general seem identical! Can someone familiar with the topic please look into this? I have put an identical comment on the talk page of the other entry. Shmuel A. Kam (talk) 13:13, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Undue section removed

edit

I've just reverted a series of edits in which a new section on "Crime" was introduced (here). Given the lack of content about the Sudanese community in Australia in this brief article, it is WP:UNDUE as it characterises the community as being criminal. There are a multitude of gangs harking from various ethnic groups in Australia, but they are not featured in the articles on diasporic groups. Placing such emphasis on criminality with nothing but statistics does not provide any form of insight other than a WP:POVPUSH derogatory one. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 21:17, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I strongly oppose including this section. It was nice of Iryna Harpy to gently explain the removal of what reads, at least to me, as clear racism. CityOfSilver 20:24, 24 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
It appears that User Imgav (who's account no longer exists?) on 02:05, 12 June 2017 has reverted the section on crime without discussion, which I strongly believe to be in breach of WP:NPOV and WP:POVPUSH. The reversal is not only without comment or explanation and WP:UNDUE on a blatant stub of an article like this one, but as of 12 April 2017, also dated and factually inaccurate - The Victorian Police have made a statement that the Apex Gang is not and never was predominantly Sudanese or African in it's ethnic/racial makeup, and that the group is too loosely affiliated to be referred to as a coherent organisation[1][2].
The edit is additionally suspicious due to the fact that the only other Wikipedia contribution that Imgav has made is of notable contributors to an article of the news outlet "The Rebel Media", a Canadian far-right racist tabloid. This reeks of an ongoing pervasive attempt both online and offline to depict migrant or foreign ethnicities as having innate criminal qualities, a claim revived from antiquity and championed by the far-right in numerous Western countries as of recently. It paints a prejudicial, criminal, unfair and imprecise portrait of the entire Sudanese Australian community, and has no place on this article. -- EmperorAshoka666 (talk) 16:10, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@EmperorAshoka666: Thank you for picking up on this WP:Ninja reintroduction of content which was rejected according to policy. Editors are reminded to check article talk pages before reinstating any content. Given that there are only three short sections on this talk page, it's highly unlikely that Imgav could have missed this thread. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 19:33, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
