Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa was an Irish Patriot of the Rising of 1867, who died in Staten Island, NY, in 1915. He was buried in Ireland, and Patrick Pearse, later the leader of the 1916 Easter Rising, gave the funeral oration (It was there that Pearse spoke his now famous words, "Ireland unfree shall never be at peace"). His name was borrowed for the child-character in this episode, and reference was made by his grandmother, Admiral Rossa, to the "proud history" of his family.
