On Air Spat
Back in the late '80s or more likely in the early '90's, I seem to recall an on air spat Sue had with Al Roker of all people. Do anyone else remember this? I so, what was it about and it should be included in the article. Is her birth date correct? I have been hunting around the net for conformation but couldn't find any. If 1943 is correct, she looks God-Damn great for 62! I live in New York City so I see her broadcast all the time. It must be a combination of great genes, a great plastic surgeon and great make up artist! I am prepared to believe its true. Kaity Tong, another NYC anchor admitted to being 52 a few years ago and she looks freaken great! Hunter2005 14:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
Parody Song
I vaguely remember something about a parody of the Kim Carnes song "Bette Davis Eyes", called "Sue Simmons Hair." It might have been on WNBC, by either Don Imus or Howard Stern. But I don't have a reference. Darn! 67.127.56.204Kevin

Why did she say "The F--- are you doing"?
Was this completely covered up? What exactly was the reason for her outburst? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.215.165.233 (talk) 08:41, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- To whom she yelled those words has never been explained. If you can find a reliable source for who was her target, feel free to add such an explanation to the article. SMP0328. (talk) 14:42, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Mocking Bush
Around 2004, an Iraqi baby was named George W. Bush. At the very end of a broadcast, Sue Simmons reported the story, then added "At least he can pronounce 'nuclear'". This is notable as she was mocking the president during wartime, while on-air. 64.251.40.254 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:52, 14 June 2011 (UTC).
- This doesn't seem notable, as media people make fun of our leaders all the time. Do you have a reliable source for it? The reason I ask is because you seem to tell the story somewhat differently each time. --CliffC (talk) 14:46, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- This was a very rare example of an unbiased newscast mocking the president. She is not a comedian or talking head. As, cursing on air is pretty normal now as well.
Also, the only thing I changed was that I removed my political bias, as it was deleted. the account is the same. Toothis (talk) 17:54, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Ethnicity
I think it must be mentioned that Sue Simmons is African American because she is the first black female to anchor at 6 and 11 P.M. on weeknights in history of New York City which is very important and one of the FIRST two black females alongside Former WNBC Anchor Carol Jenkins to anchor on the station. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackrobertos1996 (talk • contribs) 20:59, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
The rest of the story
The (W)TF story. After the "6" is done, they tape promos for the "11", then go to dinner. During the taping, there is a window for a live "11 tease". They sit at the desk and write scripts to fit the seconds of time allotted for the teases. One of the floor producers or control ops didn't alert them they were going hot for 5 seconds. Chuck was writing/editing his copy when he was supposed to be looking at camera. Sue looked at Chuck and said "TF you doing?" Sue knew they would have to re-take the shot, hence the F word. Not a problem, it gets edited out. Neither of them knew they were hot. Somebody in the studio said "What? That went out?" You know the rest of the story. If you know Sue personally or worked with her, you would know she had language skills that would put the crustiest sailor to shame. It was bound to happen sooner or later, surprisingly later. Many waiters got an earful from her when her food wasn't right or on time. A dangerous dinner date. Sue was also an excellent source of dirty jokes. After you got used to her she was fun to work with. Despite her tough demeanor she is a caring person, she has her warm spot. For example, she would send you expensive flowers and get well card while you are in the hospital, and you open it, it says "Get your lazy ass out of bed and get to fu----g work". She prefers to be treated like "one of the guys" and is treated as such. Sue never married and protects her privacy and is active with some charities. There's some hallway talk her agent is talking to producers of "The View". Sue, You're the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.203.136.27 (talk) 17:25, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- What does this have to do with the article? Are you suggesting any of the above should be added to the article? Did you work with Sue Simmons? SMP0328. (talk) 19:00, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
