Added some information, mainly just reformed the article a bit. I'll add some information on the curriculum later. Ajjunn 20:34, 30 October 2007 (UTC) 09:03, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Added some info on the curriculum and removed the "unsourced"-box. Please add it again if the sources are not good enough. Ajjunn 20:34, 30 October 2007 (UTC) 13:25, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changed all the instances of "Suiō Ryū" to "Suiō-ryū" as that seems to be the naming policy. Added a bit about the grades. Ajjunn 21:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removed Brazilian Picture. The USA Suio Ryu members do not want pictures of anyone other than the headmaster. Do not post again please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.76.113.51 (talk) 16:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could you explain a bit more? Is it a broader policy or has it got something to do with Kishikawa in person? (I am aware of the controversy surrounding his school and the branch of "niten ichi-ryu" he claims to be teaching, but I have not been albe to find any information relating to him and suio-ryu, other than the information provided by himself and his students. I'd like to know if he really is an official representative of the ryu.) Also, would you then be able to provide a picture of the headmaster we could use (compactible with the wikipedia image use policy)? Ajjunn (talk) 13:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

We promote Katsuse Sensei not any of his students here in the USA. (See our website) Kishikawa is a student of Katsuse Sensei. I'm not aware of the status of any of Kishikawa's students. Regarding his status as an "official representative" I can offer no information. In Suio, there is only one Sensei. Kishikawa is not he. Kishikawa is referenced quite enough on the portuguese Wikipedia. Let us keep him there please. Would you prefer links to Youtube to some Suio clips? Where did you get the curriculum information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.76.113.51 (talk) 21:44, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The picture was not meant to promote any one person, Kishikawa or other, just to provide a picture of Suio-ryu "in action". A copyright-free picture of Katsuse-sōke demonstrating techniques from the ryu would be ideal. No pic is just as fine for me, though. I was just thinking that this article could use one too, seeing that many other koryu-articles have them. Curriculum information I gathered from various resources on the internet that I deemed reliable enough (mainly those listed under the "resources and links"-section) and an article concerning Suio-ryu published on the Finnish Kendo associations magazine Tengu (Number 2/2006) Ajjunn (talk) 13:48, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Too bad I can't read Finnish.  ;-) I assume that the article was based on one from Kendo World that Antony Cundy wrote (one of my Seniors in the Tradition who lives in Japan). I can't comment if the picture referenced is "Suio" in action. It seems to be more based on looking "cool". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.76.113.51 (talk) 16:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spelling errors?

edit

To Tenteisai: None of your corrections were actually spelling errors, only differences (please see American and British English spelling differences, for example), so even though I like the other ways of spelling more, both ways are equally acceptable, so I'm not going to revert them. I will, however, change the Buraian back to BuRaiAn because apparently that is the way they want it to be written.

EDIT: I did decide to undo the whole revision after all, seeing that the user has been systematically doing the same thing in a number of articles even when asked to not do so. Although apparently done with good intentions, American English is no more correct than British English and any corrections are useless. Ajjunn (talk) 13:07, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Will the Insituto Niten people stop modifying this website by adding their group! Please keep your comments to the Portuguese Wikipedia.

Nate, Please stop adding this picture. Please note our comments above. Kusarigama (talk) 00:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it would seem that Kishikawa is actually an official representative of the ryu, listed on the official site (second to last)(sadly, as I among others severely dislike his way of doing things, especially in regards of HNIR) so if dojos in other countries are listed, I hate to admit that they should have an equal right. Of course, I could be wrong in this matter as I'm definitely not "in the know" regarding the politics of the ryu, and if so, please let me know (on my talk page, perhaps). Also, I cannot see the logic behind keeping the link to USA group but removing the representatives in all other countries, so I'm going to re-add the French group (and add the newly formed Finnish one). Thirdly, I agree with Kusarigama on the matter of images. Ajjunn (talk) 15:53, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can someone explain why should the image not be included? It is a (free) depiction of the art that is a subject of the article, so will illuminate the subject for a reader. The non English club links were removed per WP:External Links the US Dojo link it tenuous but left as the only English link--Nate1481(t/c) 19:54, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
(coppied from my talk page):
It is simply Nate.
We would prefer a picture of our Headmaster and not of anybody else. A simple request, no? So please stop adding the picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.161.7.202 (talk) 20:57, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
That doesn't really answer the question. Did you read WP:OWN? The basic point is that the article is not an advert for the school is is an encyclopaedia article to provide information, so an image of the art in action is useful. Could you explain why the inclusion is so objectionable?--Nate1481(t/c) 21:43, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
The shot is from the first Kumi iai Kata. It does represent well the tradition, unlike what the user Kusarigama wrote in Nate1481's discussion page. I don't understand his objection for using the photo.
I also ask the user kusarigama to a stop deleting or blanking discussion pages, as he did in this and in my user page also.
Kishikawa Sensei is representative for Sui Ryu in South America for longer than the America Shibu exists. It has nothing to do with HNIR. Please stop mixing things.

Ah yes, I see your point about the links, Nate1481. Then how about this one? It's an (excellent, if you ask me) article about the ryu containing much information without unecessary promotion of anyone. Thus we could get rid of club pages altogether, removing at least one of the points of debate. Also, a picture would be nice, so might Kusarigama or someone else be able to provide a picture of the soke that would be acceptable for them, then? (Apparently the only way to keep everyone happy and end this stupid edit war, in MY beautiful article that I've given so much for :P) Ajjunn (talk) 12:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
It does seem to have useful info, but more useful is the bibliography that could be used for sourcing this article is anyone has access to the items mentioned. --Nate1481(t/c) 13:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

<-The first would be a good start (any is better than none) and if you can get permission for the other it would be great to use them all. --Nate1481(t/c) 10:33, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
