The article refers to the suicide rate as 'high', but in fact, according to the List of Suicide Rates by country, the UK has the lowest suicide rate of any highly developed country, except Spain, Italy and Israel. In fact the most remarkable thing about suicide in the UK is how uncommon it is, considering we are a Northern European country with staggering levels of inequality and poverty (by European standards).
