Stop putting this information up. There are many Sukkar families, and most are not Maronite Christian ones.

The name "Sukkar" is very common in the Levant Region (Syria, Lebanon and Palestine) of the Middle East and it includes both Muslim as well as Christian families. Some of these families are related but many others are not. I am also a Sukkar and we originate from the Ramallah District of Palestine where the name was adopted by one branch of the SHALABI clan who may have originally come to Palestine from Kurdistan in the early days of the Ottoman Empire. The word Sukkar is very common in the Arabic language meaning "sugar", which may explain the commonality of the name.
