The opening text in the article appears verbatim at http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/5755.htm and I suspect the rest of the article is lifted verbatim from other areas on the Internet. Since there is no copyright disclaimer or agreement mentioned, I've blanked the text of the article and added some stub text. Until the issue is resolved, I suggest we leave it out. However, most of the text of the article discussed the Sundance Institute and had just a small paragraph on the festival itself, which is the title of the article. Prize?

This article does not state what, if any, prize the winner receives, save for the award itself. Can this be defined? --ClintFord 21:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, some indie films get picked up for wider release by studios' indie film distribution arms (such as Fox's "Fox Searchlight" division), but that's more of an unofficial potential prize, not an official one. I'm looking at the festival's website, and still not finding anything though, so I dunno. Runa27 22:52, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Disambig link added, and a couple of minor POV edits

While some may not see it as being as important here as it would be over at Sundance, I have added a link to the Sundance disambig page. Also, made a couple of minor edits (in a seperate edit) to a couple of the paragraphs in History, because they had a bit of a POVish feel to them. Runa27 22:52, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Other awards (than Academy and Golden Globe)

Originally I had got the idea that there was some bias in WikiProject Films and only Academy and Golden Globe were favored. Within other, I've been trying to update several lists and general articles where film awards are mentioned, to include all important festivals. This would definitely raise the quality and user-friendliness of these general and often visited articles and lists. The only problem is that when one clicks, for example, on Palm d'Or awarded film articles, few of the awarded films are above class stub and many are red links, so the user will probably think that all these awards are not really important or interesting and the effect will be to strengthen further the importance of the Academy and Golden Globe. I think in each award a clear point about its evaluation criteria should be centrally made and the articles on films that won each year's award should reflect this. Some priority should be given to develop awarded films into at least class Start articles. Hoverfish 13:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Naming of the Sundance Film Festival

I realy doubt the reason for the naming currently given on the page as beeing named for the way the sun dance over the near mountain. I heard, that it is named after Robert Redford's character in Bill Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as it is his favorite character. I found NO clue at all in the internet that it is named after the way the sun dances over the mountain. Instead I found enough clues that it was named after his character. For example, see here (somewhere in the middle of the article):

The source for the editing in this article (to the doubted naming reason) seems to be the Wikipedia article Sundance and the following difference made by the IP 128.187.0.164 on October 20, 2006: Difference of Sundance Article between Version "August 11, 2006" and Version "October 20, 2006". The IP made NO source avaliable, is a IP possibly used by many different users and seems to be the matter of many vandalisms in Wikipedia in the past. Since NO source (that's not a Wikipedia copy) in the internet has been found in which this claim would have been confirmed but many sources (see paragraph above) have been found in which the original claim has been confirmed, I will restore the original naming reason given and I have also restored the original naming reason given in the article Sundance. It's notable that in both articles there were originally the same reason given for the naming (independently and delayed from each other by different users). Until noone gives a source for a different naming reason, this version should be kept. ColdCase 00:03, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
