Camiron 90% not 100%

edit

According to the Stock Exchange Sundance owns 90% only of CamIron (Mbalam, Cameroon).

Regarding the leases in Congo, it owns about 80%.

I got my info from this announcement, which says 100%, but this could of course be outdated if Sundance sold some of its stakes. I havn't looked through all the announcements since. Calistemon (talk) 11:21, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
As of yesterday, the stock exchange said 90% of Mbalam. OK, maybe this is an indirect rather than a direct interest, but it amounts to 90%. A 2006 report is an eternity. Tabletop (talk) 08:29, 26 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I changed the sentence to reflect that the original announcement, which is what the sentence was about, states a 100 %, which has subsequently changed to 90%. I think, this will make things clearer. It would be interessting to know where the remaining 10% went to. Who ownes it? Calistemon (talk) 09:23, 26 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Probably local shareholders. In AU, 10% is a blocking amount that prevent compulsary acquisition in a takeover. Would this be the same in Cameroon Company Law? Tabletop (talk) 04:36, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

companies??

edit

I don't know if this is a British English vs American English thing but shouldn't companies be spelled company's to make it possessive? Nightg1 (talk) 20:19, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Company plural is Companies in both UK and US English.
Company (singular) possessive is Company's, and this is used several times in the Sundance article.
Company (plural/possessive) were it needed in the article (and it is not) would be Companies' or perhaps even Companies's.
A slight problem is that Companies and Companies' appear to be pronounced the same.
If you need adjudication, consult the Academe Anglais, which resides next the the Academe Francais.

Due to all these stupid acutes, graves, circumflexes, and cedillas in the French Language, it is very difficult for English speakers to type Academe Français, and there doesn't appear to be a #REDIRCT for it.
Lo and behold, this morning's newspaper has an article about a proposed Academy of English. Tabletop (talk) 23:12, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
