Origin of Sundanese

There is a clan of people in India called Sunda (clan). Is there any connection of Sundanese people with this Sunda (clan)? burdak 16:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Sundanese people are Austronesian speaking people just like most of the rest Indonesian. Large numbers of sanskirt names, words and Indian ideas are adopted and borrowed in Indonesian lannguages, that doesn't means in racial or genetic senses that their origin linked to India. Example, there is many Indian derived topography-geography names adopted in Indonesia: Kalingga kingdom in central Java derived from Kaling, Serayu river in Central Java to Sarayu river in India, etc. (Gunkarta (talk) 12:59, 14 January 2012 (UTC))

Author Opinion

I edited the section that talk about sundanese women because of :

1. No scientific explanation from given reference that there was a correlation between west java climate and lighter complexion. Skin tone color is affected by gen, not merely from West java climate. The evidences are sundanese still keep their skin complexion although they migrate into hotter climate. And the other hand, other Indonesian ethnics that have darker complexion still keep their skin characteristic although lived in sundanese land for many generations. Another different fact is Sundanese ethnic are mixed. There are many sundanese that have a dark complexion too. So the claim that skin tone is because of climate was questionable. Please provide more scientific fact from scientific references/author for keeping this part of section.

1. the part of section was a personal essay / opinion and it is highly debatable among different person. The MOST beautiful indonesian women couldn't be claimed solely from only one popular believe. Because It was famously believed too that other places have a beautiful and exotic women, Not just sundanese. For example: Sumatera (Aceh, palembang, padang), Central Java (solo / surakarta), East Java (malang, kediri), Borneo (Pontianak, Sampit), Bali, Sulawesi (Manado), etc. Additionally, indonesian actress are mixed too. Not dominated by sundanese. Another addition, the most beautiful Indonesian women could be traced from many beauty pageant that held in indonesia. From the fact, the winner is not highly dominated by sundanese women, but mixed. So, this fact was contradicted about the claim. Because if sundanese women are the most beautiful women in Indonesia, they must be dominating indonesian beauty peagant. But this is not happen. So the claim is not a fact, but highly subjective opinion and therefore cannot be claimed as a fact in wikipedia standard.

The parts of section that I edited because of above are:

1. About climate & lighter complexion correlation. I edited to "It was said". Because no scientific evidence from the reference, and the author is not a scientific journal. It was just an opinion (WP:RSOPINION)
2. Claim about Most Beautiful women. I edited to "It was said too that sundanese women is the one of". Because from popular believe, there not just only one claim (WP:RSOPINION)

Proposal for the deletion of all the galleries of personalities from the articles about ethnic groups

Seemingly there is a significant number of commentators which support the general removal of infobox collages. I think there is a great opportunity to get a general agreement on this matter. It is clear that it has to be a broad consensus, which must involve as many editors as possible, otherwise there is a big risk for this decision to be challenged in the near future.
