- I'd much rather have something not so spoilerish, especially in the episode guide because most US viewers won't see it for 5 months... EnsRedShirt 03:20, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- spoiler warnings are issued on the main episode list page, the episode page, and nearly every article linked to the episode page... people have enough times to turn back... -Xornok 03:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree but when there is not a hint of the spoiler in the episode list (especially for this episode) The picture should not be a spoiler as well.. EnsRedShirt 03:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

- Nooo Of course not, a scottish flag drapped over a coffin is not at all spoilerish.. EnsRedShirt 08:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly! -- and as I'm such a nice guy, I've uploaded a new image, at least temporary. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 08:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Did Beckett ascend??
editThe scene at the very end with him and McKay and the whole "It's not your fault" speech seems to hint at it, yet it seems when you die, you have to ascend immediately yet they sent his body back to Earth, or was the coffin empty by them since he ascended or what exactly? Or can you now ascend after you die? I'm not saying he did it on his own, there must have been a Pegasus Oma or something like that who helped him. Anyway, he better descend by next season before SG-1 uses the Sangraal to wipe out the ascended beings.
Faris b 04:09, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- um, no, he died... and the beckett that mckay talked to, was all in mckay's head... its a plot device used many times before... -Xornok 05:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Who knows? Afterall, wasn't it stated on gateworld that they might have him back next season? I think this means he MAY have ascended.
What was with the big "GOODBYE CARSON!" at the end? That was a little unusual, they never did that for Daniel or anybody.
Faris b 08:31, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- could also be an alternate universe beckett, could be a beckett identical twin we didnt know about... the goodbye was cause he died and was a fan favorite. daniel never really died, he ascended... why do people always want to see more then what their is? -Xornok 08:57, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
No need to be like that. Anyway, they didn't have a goodbye for Dr. Frasier did they? And she really died it seems. I think that they want people to think he's dead so that he can come back, just like when they depleted the ZPM in "McKay and Mrs. Miller" then 3 eps later, they end up with 3 full ZPM's. It could be the same thing, distract the fans away from the issue then resolve it, although, it's unlikely as they never bring back characters (except Daniel) to the show.
How about because people want their fav characters back? Is that reason enough to see more than there is? And I heard that the writers wanted Paul McGillon off the show is why he was killed off, is that true?
Faris b 10:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
It is highly unlikely he ascended, it is most likely just a figmant of Rodneys imagination and a narrative way to let a side character that was somewhat popular get a few more noble lines in. In that perspective it was fairly well done. Given the criteria aformentioned in the Stargate Atlantis and SG1 series for a human being to ascend (essentially an outside force MUST intervene at some point due to the fact humans are not at an evolutionay point we are capable of self ascension yet, be that outside intervention an ascended being or technology/genetic manipulation) it would be contradictory to everything previously discussed in either series for one random human who wasn't even trying to become an ascended being to overcome both the facts of A.) he did not train/live for it and didn't understand it and he is, and B.) ancient gene or no, he was not at a stage of evolution to allow for it. While anythings possible, and I certainly wouldn't doubt somehow seeing the character again, I doubt it will be explained as any form of ascension. [Monday, 2007-02-12 T 10:48 UTC]
I'm not sure where, although I think it was Gateworld, it was revealed that he didn't ascend by the producers. NIKKKIN 15:28, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
I think its majorly unlikely that Carson did not ascend. It's just to similar with the conversation between Carson and his (supposedely)best friend on Atlantis beign so alike to the one Jack and DAniel had as Daniel first ascended in "Meridian". Also , Malozzi , in a gateworld interview , stated that there was a hint iin the end of the episode , and thats the best conection I can make.
I'm also fairly sure he stated it would not be a Carson from another dimension ,a hologram, or alternate universe Beckett, or an alien impersonation. Lozmaster 21:17, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Reason why Beckett was written out/Offical sources that he might return
editFaris mentioned something in a post above to the extent of ..."And I heard that the writers wanted Paul McGillon off the show is why he was killed off, is that true?". I just feel that line of discussion deserves it's own subcatagory here if people want to talk about it. If it has been stated somewhere officially why he was written out, that would be appropriate to be linked to the actual page itself at the end.[Monday, 2007-02-12 T 10:48 UTC]
- Discussion like that is better suited for gateworld, remember talk pages are for discussion to help the article, not about the show itself. EnsRedShirt 11:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Colonel Sheppard's Uniform
editI hope someone can answer this for me, but Im sure when Sheppard had his dress uniform on he still had badges on his shoulders signifying he was a Major, yet Im sure he was promoted. Anyone clear this up? Edited - I just looked it up and the badge signifying Major and the badge showing Colonel are different colours. Got confused...—The preceding Wikipedia:Muffin_nuffin comment was added by 80.177.2.167 (talk) 20:15, 23 January 2007 (UTC).
I see that there's a note pointing out how this is the firs episode showing Sheppard in his dress uniform, and I wonder if it's worth including. I deleted it yesterday, but somebody put it back in, so we should discuss it before anybody makes any further changes. Now, the note is accurate, this is the first time we see him in full dress uniform, but I wonder if it's truly relevant to the article, or important enough to warrant inclusion. It's a minor thing and, if you ask me, much less important than Ronon calling Sheppard by his first name (Which might be representative of something else). JBK405 21:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Cleanups to article
editI was going to print a copy of this article to send to a friend, but I have to do some Serious Editing first … you have to read it from the standpoint of someone who has never seen a single episode of the show before, and is unfamiliar with the characters … using a character's first name in one place and their last name in another leads to the mistaken belief that two different characters are being referenced.
I will go through and replace all first name references with the last name, and try to avoid overuse of the title "Dr." —72.75.70.147 09:37, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
