To be honest, I'm very rarely awake early enough to see the intro, but they had a clip of Duran Duran singing "Sunrise" and Koch joked that they were covering the Sunrise theme. As I say, I don't know if they actually use that track for the intro, since I'm not really awake that early (and even if I am somewhat conscious, "awake" is probably still a misnomer) to know, but based on the joke, it seems likely.

Article name

I notice some to-and-fro'ing in the edit history regarding article name. User:Reflex Reaction has (more than once) moved the article to Sunrise (TV series), at the same time linking to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television) which states "For all other programs use (TV program) or (TV programme)" for non episodic television. If there are no arguments I'll move the article to Sunrise (TV program) -- Chuq 09:04, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Chasers

I removed this because the incident mentioned was actually a segment of satirical program The Chasers War on Everything, and was not part of the actual Sunrise program. The following is from The Advertiser:

"A SEGMENT on satirical news program The Chaser's War on Everything featuring two prominent Channel 7 personalities was planned, pre-recorded and done with the network's knowledge, a spokeswoman said yesterday.

The segment, which aired on ABC-TV, featured Sunrise hosts David Koch and Melissa Doyle.

During it, a member of the Chaser team seemed to swear violently at his girlfriend via the camera, "shocking" the much-beloved breakfast duo. The segment has since found new life on the internet.

A spokeswoman for Channel 7 said the interview was "a mock-up". "Mel, Kochie and the Chaser boys are all friends," she said. " [1]

Traffic Reports

Someone suggested merging the Sunrise traffic reports with the main Sunrise article. The whole page is just a gratuitous list of 'celebrities', which certainly doesn't deserve it's own article - to the normal viewer they are part of the program (or at least they are to me). Large Scrolling News Text?

Because that way the text won't get chopped off by some TV screen's overscan. The box is high because the scrolling text needs to fit into the 'Title safe' area. timg231 02:49, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Controversy: Sunrise vs A Current Affair

Is this really a controversy? It was infact proven that ACA are in the wrong, and got the double slap with ACMA rewarding them with a notice saying that they've gotten their facts wrong numerous times. Mel and Kochie being ambushed on air by a number of idiots from the "A Current Affair" fan club for talking about National Bingo Night isn't really a controversy - they did nothing wrong and actually turned out in the end to do their best to help the viewers. Although remember that the rules, as pointed out by Today Tonight later in that evening, showed that the viewers are in the wrong, and that if the episode doesn't air, then the contestants don't get the money.

What do you guys think? Sunrise weren't arguing, disagreeing or agreeing with them. They infact didn't interact with them at all. And finally after all, how has Kochie got anything to do with handing out payments for National Bingo Night? Alltrainzfan (talk) 00:49, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Disruptive reverting by user "Misterkillboy"

"Misterkillboy" has reverted the removal of his poorly-written reference to the Justin Bieber concert despite the absence of any discussion here. This paragraph included numerous errors, including: Incorrect spelling of "criticised", "5AM", Absence of comma in causal clause "To placate fans Bieber...".

The whole paragraph was written in a way that suggested the blame should rest with "Sunrise", even though the events actually indicated that the misbehaviour of the crowd was the only reason. Some of it was downright wrong, such as: "...they could not foresee the sheer number of fans that would turn up."

Besides that, The reference to the parents' comments is irrelevant hearsay and shouldn't be included, especially if the parents are wrong, such as where it says "Parents claimed the event was poorly organised with non-existent crowd control measures". Nonsense like this would certainly give false impressions to anyone who reads the article, particularly since the truth is not written. Channel 7 did have an idea of the crowd size beforehand and went to great lengths to organise it. They even hired the same people who deal with the Big Day Out, which is much more significant than this concert. The whole paragraph was clearly an attempt to criticise Sunrise through the publication of hearsay and picking and choosing sources based solely on their opinions. Such activity is a detriment to the encyclopaedia and must not take place, especially not without any discussion. (Huey45 (talk) 14:07, 28 April 2010 (UTC))
