This page requires a disambiguation page. At the moment, the article consists of two sentences each one of which describe two distinct subjects: the first is a concept in set theory and the second is from the field of physics and chemistry.
I wonder how to create a disambiguation page. I will try do that now ... feel free to rescue my efforts. Kewbeach (talk) 15:53, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
While reading up about Wikipedia guidelines for a disambiguation page, I got sidetracked into looking up the subject via Google. It appears that of the two distinct subjects addressed on the original page one of them is rarely (possibly never?) refered to by the term "superelement".
To be precise the two distinct subjects are:
- Mathematics
- Physics/Chemistry -- it is this in this subject area that google does not readily reveal any use of the term. The closest I can find is "super element" (ie with a space) and I can find that only once in this newspaper article: [1]. In some cases (including even in the noted article) the term "super-heavy element" is used instead. Several dictionary sites show no entry for the term "superelement" nor even "super-element", by the way -- including the miriam-webster site and the Oxford dictionary site.
What are we to make of this? I tentatively conclude, "Meh" and I'll go ahead and set up the disambiguation page -- leaving for the future, the question of nuking one of the articles if somebody else decides that the physical/chemistry sense of the term is simply not supportable.Kewbeach (talk) 15:54, 15 June 2013 (UTC) This two sentence article (that is a stretch) most likely confuses any reader who is not a math major. It is my opinion a person not in advanced mathematics/physics/chemistry would either know the meaning or search for the definition in a book on the subjects. I checked the online dictionaries and my 5 at home. This word can not be found in them. I would suggest deleting these two sentences or placing them in an article where they add value.
