First and foremost, this is a work in progress and has to be complete.

This article was also marked for Speedy Deletion as "spam" and in violation of section G11 which includes promotion. Neither of which is correct.

This article is in no way spam nor is any of it's content. Facts are stated and resources are cited as per Wikipedia policy. Furthermore, the type of race it is, an [[alleycat_race|alleycat}} is a current wikipedia article, that in fact, mentions specific races by name and also provides a link to upcoming races which is clearly a form of promotion.

This article was started by a third party that is in no way related to race organization.

Additionally, this article has merit as a yearly event that involved a legitimate sport that benefits a public charity. This article is not unlike other wiki articles that benefit public charities on small scales such as Tacheback, Dartmoor Yomp, and Perimeter Bicycling.

Furthermore, this event has establish itself with an annual presence in the city of san francisco and has made a postivie impact on the cities quite public battle with hunger and homelessness by donation all time and profits to the San Francisco Food Bank, a legitimate, established charity who's goal is to:

"To help end hunger, the San Francisco Food Bank will distribute more than 41.5 million pounds of food this year to low-income families, individuals and more than 400 local nonprofit agencies. "

The SMSW is sanctioned by the SFFB, is often mentioned on it's site, included on it's events page and press releases and used as an example of how small scale events can have a major impact on hunger problems in san francisco.

If there are specific issues with this post, please point them out and they will be quickly resolved. Otherwise, please consider this as an important addition to annual San Francisco events, charitable events and sporting events.

If you can put that into the article, it'll pass the requirements; at the time I tagged it, it didn't say any of that and read like an advertisement. But I'll remove the tag and watch over it; if you need help just ping me at my talkpage, and I'll be more than happy to answer questions. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:37, 8 December 2010 (UTC) The "spam" tag is the default for G11; if I had done it manually, I would have selected "advert", which was more accurate. But you've done a lot of good work on it since I tagged it, so it's no longer applicable. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC) Reply

Please help this orphan article by adding links to it in related articles and lists. Once it has an incoming link from at least one article or list, the orphan tag can be removed (disambiguation pages, redirects and draft articles do not count). Three or more incoming links are ideal. The Find link tool may help, but not in all cases.
