It is useful to state that it was Yakov Zel'dovitch who first described this phenomenon and Robert Dicke who formulated it mathematically in 1954. Then it was Igor Novikov at the University of Moscow who mediated this theory.--luxorion — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:7E8:C99E:E500:A1:555B:A406:D2C3 (talk) 14:20, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Zel'dovitch's first citation on superradiance is 1971: Zel'Dovich, Ya B. "Generation of waves by a rotating body." ZhETF Pisma Redaktsiiu 14 (1971): 270.

It's also referring to the astrophysical/relativistic effect rather than quantum optics. I have added the citation and moved the text out of the Quantum Optics section. Sgrer346rht (talk) 11:41, 20 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Merge from Super radiant emission

edit

Propose merging from Super radiant emission into this article. Why? Because this article gives an incomplete and fractured discussion of superradiance, carefully avoiding any mention of lasers and astronomical masers, while the other article gives the formulas/equations, while also failing to mention this article as the general overview. They'd be happier together, I think. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 05:25, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've done this, but only moved the referenced sections. Two sections were entirely unreferenced, and another entirely duplicated content already at the target.     Y Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 17:02, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
