editthe man deserved a better article. --KARL RAN (talk) 23:55, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
despite the rivalries with Soekarno, when Sjahrir died, Soekarno immediately declared him as a National Hero. Luthffffi (talk) 10:46, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Possibly the reaction of a (states)man with a bad conscience. Even Hatta had begged Soekarno to show mercy, calling his imprisonment without legal process an old school colonial measure, when a sickly Sjahrir was gaoled and even lost his speech after suffering a stroke. KARL RAN (talk) 19:24, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I commented this "... his name discredited and erased from Indonesian textbooks. In the 21st century Sjahrir is re-discovered...". Thus it's not right that he was erased from Indonesian textbooks because of his sour relation with Soekarno. However due to his association with socialism, during Soeharto New Order regime his name was rarely mentioned. In that time socialism was simply close to communism. Communism is a prohibited ideology in that time even until now. Luthffffi (talk) 15:37, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
