Gay Lobby?

edit

Swedish name for the tv program is "Böglobbyn" and "bög" as an historically negative term should be translated as "fag" or something similar in "hardness". If the program didn't aim to provocate, it would indeed have been called "Gaylobbyn" instead. It should be changed to The Fag Lobby. 202.87.222.195 00:59, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

FRIEND WITH HAMMARSKJOLD. HOMOSEXUALITY.

Even the biographers that write that Hammarskjold "was not homosexual" don't state that he was heterosexual, but "asexual." That is untrue, because he was indeed homosexuel as well as one of his closest collaborators and personal friends, Sverker Astrom, who came out recently and he was 90 ! And he is still alive ; someone sould ask him what he knows about Hammarskjold's homosexuality and quickly. But after all, perhaps is he writing his memories. That would be interesting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.3.96.63 (talk) 16:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Political Affiliation?

edit

It was implied in the article that Åström was a Social Democrat but I have never seen any sources to strengthen such a claim. Åström himself claims in his autobiography that he was never member of a political party but rather considering himself a professional diplomat and as such, he would resign only if his duties conflicted strongly with his personal opinions. Although it is true that he was a good friend of the Social Democrat leader Olof Palme, he was also critical to the politicization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Social Democrat politicians to a large extent replaced professional diplomats thereby threatening the professionalism of the diplomatic service. Åström himself describes how he almost resigned as a consequence before the conflict was resolved and that this was the only time during his career when he considered to resign. In connection with being awarded the Green Party congress price, Åström again claims not to have political affiliations to any party but at the same time adds that he would choose to become a member of the Green Party if he would change his mind and join a political party in the future. The Swedish Green Party was however founded when Åström had already retired from his diplomatic career. Maybe some of this information should be added also to the article to clarify as his autobiography is quite clear regarding the subject but I choose to only remove the Social Democrat affiliation claims as not being affiliated to a political party or expressing personal opinions during diplomatic service is considered a normal part of the professionalism among Swedish professional diplomats.Tharand 21:28, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
