This article could use an explanation of what is going on in swarming motility. Are bacteria cooperating to move as a unit, as, say, human cells do, or do they decide on a particular direction, and each individual cell makes its own way there? If they're moving as a unit, what is the physical mechanism that they use to hold together? Orborde (talk) 21:49, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Biosurfactant, quorum sensing and swarming

Saying that "biosurfactant molecules are thought to act by lowering surface tension" is like saying that fat works by being oily. It's not an explanation. Sllot (talk) 20:55, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
