List of ambassadors

edit

This is only really appropriate for Embassy articles not bilateral relations articles. In fact, I've only seen these on embassy articles. If anything only notable (or current) ambassadors should be listed as per Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Lists_of_people). LibStar (talk) 04:02, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is no requirement to this list into a separate articles or even a separate list. Lists are an important feature of wikipedia.
Besides, you don't explain how it would fail WP:NOTDIR as you noted in your deletion summary. -- User:Docu
Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Lists_of_people) is a more appropriate guideline for this. I really don't see how listing ambassadors adds value to a bilateral relations article. You have not demonstrated this. LibStar (talk) 04:11, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • The list is germane to the topic. If it's not in there or listed there, it's an omission. Limiting these lists to donors of political parties, that would be inappropriate. -- User:Docu
as per Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Lists_of_people), Such lists are not intended to contain everyone. LibStar (talk) 04:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
And it doesn't contain everyone. I am not on the list. You may notice that the example was for alumni of colleges, not ambassadors. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 04:26, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
As in every ambassador. It contains every ambassador since 1962. why since 1962 in any case? As I've stated previously I've only seen this in embassy articles, not any bilateral articles (and I've seen 100s of these articles). A side point, why do you indent with many ":".LibStar (talk) 04:27, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, ambassador lists are usually separate: see Category:Lists of ambassadors for all that. Sometimes they're nice; other times they're silly redlink farms, but they're usually separate from the bilateral relations articles. - Biruitorul Talk 05:30, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think LibStar just said that for the argument's sake, he doesn't really not want them combined in general. Is this true LibStar? -- User:Docu
And i think that's just bad faithed speculation about the motives of others that has nothing to do with improving encyclopedia articles.Bali ultimate (talk) 10:45, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd ignore you until at least you learn to properly sign and date your whining about other editors and your disruptive speculation about others secret motives. But that's just me. ta.Bali ultimate (talk) 10:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please remember WP:CIVIL, WP:NPA, and WP:AGF. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:44, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Do you want to know if he/she wants them split out or combined? -- User:Docu
yes it's important (especially for admins) to assume good faith. I have made my position clear already, only current ambassadors should be included in this article. (exception being if previous ambassadors have their own WP article). no further comment will be made on this issue. LibStar (talk) 02:50, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Can you explain why you (or someone using your account) made a proposal to merge United States Ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe into São Tomé and Príncipe – United States relations here.-- User:Docu 05:28, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

"someone using your account" is assuming bad faith. The reasons are stated on the discussion page. I will not respond further to such queries and expect better from an admin. LibStar (talk) 05:31, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Interestingly, there is nothing but a list of ambassadors left to merge on that page. -- User:Docu
I would only include ambassadors with actual articles on them, consistent with what I am requesting here. LibStar (talk) 05:38, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Switzerland of South America

edit

Whilst it is quoted in this article. it should be noted other places in South America have been described the same, in particular Bariloche in Argentina. [1] [2]. LibStar (talk) 05:54, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's foolishness anyways, cooked up by people that don't understand that a rhetorical claim that country X is the "switzerland of latam" because of its banking laws says absolutely nothing about bilateral relations.Bali ultimate (talk) 22:48, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
