- This is the closest thing I could find: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Lair/9260/sqfw.html. -- Bobdoe (Talk) 07:13, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Awesome find Bobdoe! Furthermore the photos were found in a shoebox, abandonware license FTW! Now we just need to figure out a way to bring them into context in the article for display. In the meantime I'm going to external link the bottom of the article to the images and photoshop around a bit and see if I can bring more quality out of the items themselves. Reading the Clues
editAny information on how to actually read the clues, i.e. finding the right word in the right panel of the comic book? I've read two walkthroughs of the Earthworld game and it still escapes me how you're supposed to take those numbers and figure out a)what the word is and b)what objects to leave in what room. As I recently downloaded all the Swordquest games on an emulator, I'm surious to figure this out. Thanks! -38.119.112.187 08:08, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
They were hidden in the comic books.--HawthorneMN (talk) 04:30, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
The game periodically spit out pairs of numbers when you had the right combination of objects in a room. The first number was the page of the comic to look on, and the second number was the panel on that page. Hence '13 6' meant look on page 13, panel 6 for a hidden word in the artwork. Clear enough? I played in the competition for Swordquest Fireworld, so I feel qualified to answer this. I also have pics of 4 of the 5 prizes on my Facebook page. sunwolf@usa.com 184.74.148.123 (talk) 03:24, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I must have been a very dense 12 year old when this game came out because, for the life of me, the clues never made any sense to me. The game play felt like more of an adventure in futility than anything else. --Jaiotu (talk) 09:17, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Citation on speculation
editIs this really necessary? Jack Tramiel may or may not have the two other prizes, but since no one knows I propose either the sentences be removed or the citations be removed. You can't prove it one way or the other so somethings gotta give.
- That is precisely what [citation needed] means. Either those speculative/OR claims need to be sourced, or they should be deleted. Xihr 03:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism
editI removed a line of vandalism under the "Contest" heading under "Earthworld." 24.192.138.13 (talk) 00:18, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Chalice Update
editThe man who owns the Chalice is actually on Atari Age and he has posted pictures of it as of 2009, so we still know that it exists and nothing happened to it in four years.142.161.161.128 (talk) 20:47, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Sentence makes no sense
editIn the Plot paragraph for Earthworld is the sentence "Their parents were slain by King Tyrannus's guards, prompted by a prophecy by the king's wizard Konjuro reveals a prophecy that." This sentence doesn't make any sense. It would be nice if someone could rewrite it. I would do it myself, but sadly, I don't know what this sentence is trying to tell me. --93.200.119.142 (talk) 20:32, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
The Crown
editIf the crown was won in the Waterworld contest by a mystery winner, why does it then say that the crown was recycled along with the stone and the sword? 163.47.238.171 (talk) 03:45, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
Clues and Comic Book
editThe article currently says, "Each of the games came with a comic book that explained the plot, as well as containing part of the solution to a major puzzle that had to be solved to win the contest."
No they did not. Do we have a reference to that? I bought Swordquest: Fireworld back when it came out (and still have it). There was no comic book, and no hint. (It was an incomprehensible game and I rue the fact I spent hours trying to figure it out.) Let's ditch the sentence if no one can find a proper reference, because it's simply not true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.158.191.153 (talk • contribs)
- Yes, they absolutely did come with a comic in the instruction manual. [1], [2] and plenty more --Masem (t) 01:59, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
value of prizes vs cost to atari
editin the promotional material for the contest it regularly references that the prizes were "produced at a cost of $25,000" each. I think this is a bit different from saying that the prizes were worth $25,000 each.
is it worth updating references to the value of the prizes to reflect this? AnonsysL (talk) 11:34, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
