I know that _Winning Ways_ attributes the finiteness theorem to Sylvester. But Conway invented Sylver Coinage long after Sylvester was dead. How could Sylvester have proved a theorem about it?
Does anyone have a reference for this? I don't think it's in the article of Sylvester's that the book references, but I don't have a copy of the article at hand. Sicherman (talk) 02:06, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
